Um...it's not the papers and ink that are expensive...it's the ideas & all other sorts of things that come with the books that are expensive.

That's why exercise books are cheap.

Er, because the price of the book needs to cover the costs of printing, distribution, royalties to author, publishing house and literary agent, and have the store selling it turn a profit as well.

That and the hours you get out of a $20 paperback are probably higher than the length of entertainment you'd get out of anything else of that price.

im stealing all the thunder because e-books are free. and easily downloadable. legitimacy questionable though, and only if you can stand reading on a computer screen.

There are much better ones. I think there are a few in Summer Hill that I've heard are nice.

Goulds has a vast collection of crap including about 104 works by D H Lawrence.
