Anyone know the GPA requirement for transferring to it? Since UNSW only takes the higher of UAI/GPA my UAI most likely won't count as I was in the low 80s. Thanks in advance.

Edit 2:
Woops, I think the "higher of UAI or Tertiary" rule applies only to BComm so my UAI might affect me afterall. Anyhow, any information on the GPA for transferring into just BComm would be appreciated.

You should email UNSW Undergraduate Admission (ugadmis@unsw.edu.au) and ask whether they're 50/50 UAI/GPA or the better of the two, i know of other programs other than Commerce that do this.

Based on the SCU Selection Schedule (which i heard is outdated now) you would need to get distinction averages (assuming Eng/Com look at only GPA), but NRSL cut-offs are usually lower than the published ones.

Thanks Kevin, I've emailed them just now and I'll post the reply on here when I get it.

I had a credit average last year (with a uai probably lower than yours :p) and got transferred into b.eco this year. So I'd imagine that it'd be based on the higher one and in my case (or yours), it will be first year results. For b.commerce, I think you might need to achieve a distinction average in your first year to be safe.

However as for the engineering part, I'm not exactly sure how it works...

Hope it's of any help. :)

Thanks soopacow, your credit average sounds about right - I am predicting the GPA requirement for BComm to be 5.7ish. From the reading I've done I'm 99% sure that the Australian School of Business at UNSW takes the higher of GPA or UAI, I'll find out about the engineering part when I get a reply from UNSW Undergraduate Admission.

Edit: Btw soopacow, would you be willing to tell me your GPA? PM me if you don't want to post it.

I'm not sure about the GPA's... but I had a friend who had a 75 WAM and got into commerce.

Yeah sounds spot on, a 75 WAM is a GPA of 6. Thanks!
Not necessarily. You can have a 75 WAM with a 5.xx GPA. It depends on your marks for the individual subjects (such as high D vs. low D etc.)

Yeah I forgot about that, my bad.
It's kind of unfair that a 75, 75,75,75 equates to 6.0 GPA but a 74,84,84,84 equates to a 5.XX. I think unis use GPA for transfers, not WAM - I'm not 100% sure on that though. Hopefully they take WAM into consideration but since it's a automated system through UAC I really doubt it. When I emailed them I probably should have asked them about the WAM thing.. and if a STAT test helped in transfers at all :mad1:.

This is the reply I got from UNSW:

Dear Rageeb,

Thank you for your email.

After one full time year you will be assessed on either your UAI or your first year GPA, UNSW will consider the better of the two. However we do reserve the right to consider an applicants entire academic record. The same applies for Engineering/Commerce.

To be competitive for admission you should aim for a credit to distinction average.

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your email.

Provided that your HSC is less than five years old and that you have undertaken 0.75 to 1.00 full time year you will be assessed for admission to both B Media and B Commerce on either your first year results or your UAI, UNSW will consider the best of the two.

Regards
Stuart
