Hey, kid, how about you get the fuck away from the job market so that us older unemployed students can get one.

you know i'll give you some solid advice. just go to macquarie centre, check out all the places you want to work, call them up and ask them if they have employment vacancies. if they say 'give us your resume' it means 'we have no vacancies and don't give a shit'. well thats what i did. i just called up heaps of places and got one eventually.

I'm in a rural town, and you cannot get a job through application. The entire town is via word of mouth, and I don't know anyone here... So therefore I'm stuck on centrelink payments till I can move.

This entire town is pathetic.

i have done that for parra...did maq a few days ago, waiting for any calls...

no places are employing, so i guess with the recessions and all, bad time for me to quit my old job and come looking for a new one.

Time for some serious advice.

People are inherently weak, they are too shy/embarassed to reject you face to face. If you're desperate for a job go up to the shop personally and ask for a job application form.

If they say they're not hiring ask if you could fill one out anyway and if there is an opening to contact you.

I read that, and started to sing "Home among the gumtrees" in my head. I don't know why. Lol

Try General Pants at Macquarie, they're always looking for people, and City Beach too. ++ awesome discounts on clothes haha

Borders? Dick Smith? Lol Franklins at mac i think want people last time i went there.

Most of the department stores (Target, Big W, Myers etc) you will probably have to apply online...

There's always Supre... hehe

qft

On topic: I currently have 2 jobs. They were both obtained by asking friends who already have jobs. Sirus, I reckon you should try asking people you know who are employed for suggestions. The more people you ask, the more likely you are to land yourself a job. This thread is a good start. When you find one you think is suitable, call the employer up, don't just email your resume to them. Talking to the actual person is 10x better then sending a resume because it shows your actually interested in getting the job, and the employer is less likely to reject you. Like what Omium said. Good luck!
