The survival rate for intensive care is probably quite low. It costs and incredible amount of money to keep these facilities open. I argue that it would be more economically sensible to close all intensive care units and focus the recovered funds on more economically sound growth projects such as education, and advanced genetics (leading to humans that will never need intensive care).

Thoughts?

I was once in intensive care for 5 days.

I had large ammounts of memory loss so i only remember flashes (being serious)

it would have been more economically beneficial had you have been thrown in to (for lack of a better word) a dead pile: a pile of dying/dead people out back.

Agree with the first two posts. Medicine as a whole is a stall, it keeps people living a lot longer than they should, and hinders survival of the fittest.

I agree. Now, I am not a racist or anything, but you have to think, when these "Asian" or "Lebonese" gangsters get shot or "od" on drugs... where do they end up? Yup, the intensive care unit. Is it really in our best interest, as hard working taxpayers, to expect to pay to rehabililiate these people? No, it is not when they will just end up back on the street selling marihuana to young children and raping our young girls. If we were to just let them die whose fault would it be? Keysar Trad would probably blame hardworking true-blue AUSSIE AUSTRALIANS., It is HE who is the RACIST.

i don't actually think you should be banned, it was just the option that i agreed with most. i agree that they could be shut down, but if, and only if, there is a viable alternative.

Ending their lives should definitely be an option available to all consenting intensive care patients.

If we're looking at the economic cost of intensive care, what are the true survival rates? If they're above a certain point, the economic returns of having public intensive care, the income and tax the surviving patients generate, would outweigh the cost.

It's an irrelevancy as far as private intensive care is concerned.

If theyre mentally incapacitated, theyre not human and I agree with Kwayera in that they should be destroyed

I'd say a majority of patients in many specialised areas of healthcare would never repay their medical bills in the form of tax... often people with 1 problem suffer from a variety of chronic conditions

If we just killed these guys, wed save billions on hospitals and disability payments lol. But its just inethical.

You're defs right in that a LOT more should be spent on preventative healthcare; eg. PE at school, education programs, cheaper nutricious food? , getting rid of smoking...
