Easy jobs to get? (1 Viewer)

I am seriously getting fed up! I've applied for so many jobs in the last 4/5 months and I have only had one interview (Boost) which I didn't end up getting. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I have a great resume, great UAI and 2/3 full days available to work but I'm not getting anywhere! I am seriously at the point of thinking about applying to places I would never even think about working such as McDonalds. Are there any jobs out there that are relatively easy to get and suit the hours of a uni student? Please let me know!!!

I am really starting to think employers don't give a shit about UAI/OP. I mean, I didn't work in year 12 so I could focus on getting a great score and I did, but somehow I think I probably would have been better off getting more work experience, even if it meant getting a lower score.
For example, my friend didn't give a shit about school, worked casually at her stepdad's office during grade 12, got an OP 16 (not sure what that is in UAI... but not very good!) and got the first job she applied to this year. Meanwhile I have put my resume in at about 50 places to no avail. Man life's unfair!:mad1:

You're being a snob and should just try for Maccas. If you weren't able to work in Year 12 and also get a good UAI, you obviously don't have very good time management skills, or are not that smart and they're probably picking up on that.

Experience comes first, that's why you can't be picky. Duh.

there is no fucking way an employer will hire you just because you have a high uai.

any job easy to get is not worth getting

and so far what i can gauge about you is that you are up yourself and you think should have it easy. your personality and your availability are the biggest factors when landing a (casual) job.

since you're so SMART why didnt you think of doing what everyone else your age is doing .. say you're fully available and then when you start tell them you cant work certain days. or skip a few days of uni for a little while and then tell them if you think you're going to get the sack.

the economy is going shit and employers arent looking for employees as much as they did a year ago.

and your uai is shit.

I just couldn't fit work in. Here is what I juggled last year
1. I went to an academically vigorous school which expected enormous amounts of study
2. I was school captain so I had numerous meetings/conferences I had to attend and things I had to organise
3. I studied 2 units of first year university (which I maintained a 6.5 GPA)
4. And I was on the state basketball and swimming teams training for them most days of the week.

So please don't make assumptions on my time management skills, I think I managed my time pretty well.

Potential employers still won't care about all that. Experience is what matters, I just find it astounding that you believe that purely because of academic achievements they should hire you. You do not have a fantastic resume if you have no experience.

And I think you mean rigorous.

I am not saying that. I was just highlighting why I didn't work last year. I'm not saying I should be hired just because of academic achievements. I have 3 years customer service experience from 2004-2007. I was just wondering if it was because I didn't work for a year last year. Chill...

Lol that's weird, why would a school captain (I know what my schol captains had to do, it was a huge responsibility) fail at getting a job? Apply from the ground and work your way up (even if it's maccas, try woolies if you wish).

If you have a car, any domino's store will take you straight away as a driver.

Think outside your paradigm. If you're willing to do labouring/factory work, you can register with labor hire companies (of which there'll be at least a dozen or so for any major area, check your phone book). They specialise in placing people with employers. They are extremely flexible and you can earn good amounts of money. My brother brought home $700/week in one position he had for a while, which is pretty decent for someone with no skills or experience. It may be worth getting a green card, but it's not essential. As a woman, you'll probably be given quite good access to opportunities.

Get your RSA/RCG if you haven't already, and apply for positions that require those qualifications. Look at any employment related skills you could develop.

Meh... I guess I'm naive well I applied online to woolies, coles, kmart ect but haven't heard back so i'm guessing the online applications take a while. I might give maccas a go... sometimes there a hot guys at the drive through window!

If that's you in your avatar, then try looking for promotional agencies or look for freelance promo jobs. They love bubbly and good looking people and pay is usually good. I'd recommend signing up to a few agencies so you have lots of work offers coming in. A lot of the girls and guys are students so they're ok if you turn down work. The type of jobs you can go for include alcohol promotions (need an RSA for most of these jobs), corporate kind of gigs handing out samples or pamphlets, event hosting and grid girl type of stuff.

Even though I work in retail now (I live far from the city and most of my promo jobs were CBD based which was tiresome for me), I get emails each week begging for more people to work on specific jobs.

What im saying is that treat every job as if you REALLY want it (even if it IS Maccas etc.)

i worked my way up, from working at hungry jacks, to a family takeaway store, to air-conditioning and now to Rebel Sport.

just be patient, if u want you can send me your resume and i can give you a few tips if neccessary.
