Hey Guys. I’m currently in year 11 (technically in year 12 now) and definitely thinking of doing a cadetship.. I've been working on my extra-curricular, Leadership and volunteering activities and this is what I have done so far in the past three years. I heard it was really competitive, so what are my chances of me getting a cadetship with what I’ve done so far?... taking into consideration that applications for cadetship in '10 is ages away and i still have time to do more...um what else...oh, do they take into consideration about any work experience? and if so, should I take on a part time job during year 12?

Does any of the big four firms have places for Transactions or Business Advisory as a cadet? or is it just tax and assurance?

Yep most of the Big 4 offer a couple of spots in Business Advisory. It's really much too early for this sort of talk. Wait until next year's Chartered Accountants Career Day. They'll have pamphlets at your school and advertise it at the website when more info comes out http://www.charteredaccountants.com.au/students

I think you guys should just stop worrying about this and enjoy the upcoming summer holidays.

Hey guys. I'm currently in year 12 and I'm really interested in this whole cadetship thing.

So other than the big 4 companies, does anyone know what other firms that offer cadetships?
And how does it work? So you go to each of their websites, sign up for info night, and what happens from there?

Thanks heaps guys. :)

I have a suspicion that trainee intakes are going to be utter rubbish in the coming years so I'd advise prospective highschool students to focus more on academia and getting into a really good/long unicourse.

Start around 300k maybe, then ever increasing equity share portions... so if they've been around long enough over a million isn't uncommon.

i know around 7 ppl who got them in the past 2 years

they all got over 99, and they were prefects/srcs , most of the ppl that got in had around the same shit, but ppl with 95-99 get in also, with a ton of REAL co-coricus

on a sidenote, from what i can see, most of the ppl on cadetships did not get over the 99 UAI mark. whilst some did, and i can name them too, i don't think it's the defining characteristic. the far more important thing is the way they interact with people and have shown that in the past, they have the capacity to act professionally and a willingness to learn.
