I just watched a couple of replays of the red. You're right in that it wasnt the correct call.

That said, all im saying is the ref had a terrible game and probably cost chelsea the match. I'm not saying Barcelona were favoured or anything.

Abidal's red card was the linesman's decision so it wasnt the ref's fault. the linesman had a way better angle and he got carded for a trip. with that being said all angles shown on sbs looked like a non-foul.
The referee was absolutely crap. Pique's handball was 100 times worse than heinze's one vs liverpool and liverpool got a penalty. chelsea should have secured the game b4 the equaliser though but u cant turn a blind eye to decisions which could have changed the whole game.

its gonna be a tactical game in the final but i strongly think man utd will win(although i dislike 'em) coz man utd can play defensively beautifully but can also counter like crazy. Once utd kills their passing game they will def win.

Absolutely no excuses for Chelsea. They had enough chances to kill the game off. Abidal's red card was a joke, so the clear penalty for handball they weren't issued after Barca had equalised is justice. When all is said and done, Chelsea have no heart. A side with a bit of ticker wouldn't have missed a penalty to win the CL last year, or manage to go out this year after being utterly dominant. A victory for football it must be said.

Ballack running after the ref was the only time he broke into a sweat all game. And Drogba is a disgrace to football. If ever you want to know why your team is hated, Chelsea fans, look no further than that diving twat. That 'Platini has a vendetta against English sides' comment is just ridiculous. He just doesn't want a dirty, cheating side against the traditions of football to tarnish UEFA's showpiece. Damn right too.
You're first point is talking absolute shit. Are you really saying that John Terry and the whole Chelsea team has no heart because he slipped on a wet pitch ? IF so, thats extremely fucking retarded. and this year, surely the reason we lost is poor finishing ? i definitely didn't see a lack of trying out there.

As for the second point, i don't think Chelsea fans really care if they are hated, you know that from day one when you support them. Just like Manly in the rugby league over here, hated because of jealousy of success (i',m not saying we're the most successful club, but chelsea both gained and lost a lot of fans once they started winning cups in 2004.

I agree, from an objective stand point i feel Man Utd are better then Chelsea this season, and we completely negated their attack largely. Manchester on their day defend just as well and usually attack better then us too.

2-0.

That's not really the point. Chelsea, like all professional teams, are a respected club. But when you have these players chucking fits and crying like little girls after getting beaten is a disgrace. It's a disgrace to the club, to fellow team-mates, to the supporters, to football. It's like the same for me with Ronaldo. I cringe every time I see him whine about decisions that didn't go his way. But there's only one of him in our team, but in your team there's just way too many. Drogba, what a disgrace. How ironic it is that he actually said it to the camera.

I am over it now.

However a few season ago when Barcelona lost to Chelsea in the quarterfinal was it. I think I remember a aftermatch blow up by alot of their players towards the referee. I think it was Ronaldinho mainly.

I only thought the hand ball was the clear penalty..... all others I thought were difficult to call but the ref got them right. Having said that, I sort of wanted Chelsea to win it after seeing how Barca performed over the two legs. Barca's defence looked shaky and now that Dani Alves and Abidal are out it will be even worse + I believe Utd are more of an attacking threat. Those all equal a recipe for disaster for Barca.

I hope I'm wrong though..... really don't want Utd to win it back to back. Let's hope Messi and Eto'o actually step it up in the final.
They had Puyol and Marquez out today, I don't blame them for looking a bit shaky at the back. To have all their first choice back 4 out for the Final is going to be a disaster for them. It'll truly be a case of trying to outscore United for the, they can't afford to sit back at all.

Fact is, they still played better then Barcelona, and even though they could have played better, didn't deserve to lose.
If you take how they didn't even try to score in the first leg into account then they didn't deserve to go through either. They left themselves wide open for what happened to them tonight. And really only one of the penalties decisions was stonewall, the others were all fair enough to wave away. And it doesn't take into account the one Thierrry should've had in the first leg either.

Thankfully I don't see any Chelsea fans defending Ballack and Drogba, that was horrific. I loved how the Fox Sports guy when Drogba was screaming "It's a disgrace" voiced over "Nah mate you're the disgrace."

With the amount of penalties and free kicks he's won by conning the ref it is so rich to see him act like that.

Ballack and Drogba's reaction was disgraceful i agree.

I mean im glad they're passionate about the club, because you do sometimes wonder if they even care. Emotions are surely extremely high, but really, poor form.

Though, to be even, people have been giving Chelsea shit for playing defensively, I don't remember this much criticism when Italy won the world cup though.

Ashley cole, ballack, drogba. I don't think any of the others are more cuntish then you'd find elsewhere in big teams. And yeah, especially Ballack shits me with his behaviour, seeing as though hes been fairly shit for us.

Terry is captain, so i don't think hes nearly as bad, and Lampard is one of thegreat professions in the league imo.

But i guess my point was, people dont hate chelsea because of Drogba, ballack or cole. Because their was similar hate before the team gradually got filled with some twats.

Johan Cruyff believes that his former club, Barcelona, deserved to book their ticket to Rome for the Champions League final after a 1-1 draw at Chelsea in the second leg of the semi-finals saw them advance on the away-goals rule.

The Dutchman, however, readily admitted that the Blaugrana didn’t have the best of matches at Stamford Bridge and although he panned the two referees who were appointed over both legs, he believed Chelsea only had themselves to blame for their elimination.

“As a coach, we tend not to talk about referees and even when we do, it serves no purpose. But now, as an observer from the outside, I can say that both referees in the semi-finals have been two of the worst, for different reasons,” he wrote in his regular column in El Periodico.

“Henning Ovrebo last night was just as bad as Wolfgang Stark at the Camp Nou. The Norwegian expelled [Eric] Abidal unjustly, he didn’t see the [Gerard] Pique penalty, and he missed a few other half-calls for a penalty as well.

“It is clear that a semi-final of this intensity and passion did not deserve two referees like that. They did badly. They were just bad, period.”

Cruyff then acknowledged that Blues manager Guus Hiddink had little choice but to replicate his first-leg strategy and play defensive football against Barca again. But this time, his caginess costs the Londoners.

He said, “Hiddink is not someone who’s in favour of this style of play, but he was aware that it was the only option against a Barca side who were technically superior.

“It was the strategy he used at the Camp Nou and he did it again at home, but it was precisely that over-conservatism which killed Chelsea.

“Yes, it’s true that they had more chances than Barca but they were still playing defensively when they had 11 players against 10. They took out [Didier] Drogba instead of finishing off the tie because they thought the game had been won, or that there was no longer any danger. They were mistaken.

“If you look over the entire 180 minutes, you will realise that the team who will travel to Rome are the only team who tried to play football and who did enough to be granted this dream opportunity.”

Why is it only football if you pass a lot. It's not like Chelsea didn't try and score, they had numerous chances. I don't see why playing to your strengths is such a crime.

you're never going to win plaudits if you play so negatively. not only were chelsea trying to bully barca out of the match, they tried to sit on a lead that was never enough. that led to their downfall. that, and drogba missing a sitter. :headbang:

How werre they sitting on it though?

They had more chances then Barca, they attacked fairly well, Drogba was only subbed off because he was hurt. I just watched the replay on espn then and im annoyed even more now, we dominated by more then i thought.

Ah well, try again next year.

- ballack has always been a tool, from his leverkusen days through to his spell with munchen and even as far as the german national team.

- eto'o's handball was also a penalty, imo.
back to goal + hands all in the air = recipe for disaster.

- if you thought fletcher was unlucky, spare a though for abidal.

- the term 'deserve' should not exist in matches like these.

Eto'o's penalty call was correct. The ball hit him around the shoulder, nowhere near his outstretched arm. He also had his back turned. Correct decision.

What Guus said about the so called "injustice" is quite interesting. He had a different attitude when he was the coach of Australia, he said that's part of life. He had a different attitude when coaching South Korea, when he said Italy and Spain should look at their own shortcomings.

from my interpretation he was saying basically that yeah incorrect decisions occur, but to have 3-4 in the one game was a joke.

interesting to see a few big names such as graham poll and others say that their was strong grounds for 3 penalties.

Also, i mean does it matter if it was intentional?

You shouldn't be waving your hands around in the box, and it did hit him on the arm in front of goal, and the shot very well might have gone in.
