Wow. Never knew that. How interesting.
Yep.

In 2004, Italian researchers conducted a study of about 4,600 people who were the relatives of 98 homosexual and 100 heterosexual men. Female relatives of the homosexual men tended to have more offspring than those of the heterosexual men. The researchers concluded that there was genetic material being passed down on the X chromosome which both promotes fertility in the mother and homosexuality in her male offspring. The connections discovered, would explain about 20% of the cases studied, indicating that this is a highly significant but not the sole genetic factor determining sexual orientation.

...

...Female relatives of the homosexual men on their mother's side tended to have more offspring than those on the father's side. This indicates that females carrying a putative "gay genes" complex are more fecund than women lacking this complex of genes, and thereby can compensate for any decreased fertility of the males carrying the genes. This is a well known phenomenon in evolution known as "sexual antagonism", and has been widely documented for many traits that are advantageous in one sex but not in the other. This provides solid experimental evidence of how "gay genes" could not only survive but thrive over the course of evolution.

Wow. That's really, really interesting. So the biological argument that we aren't 'meant' to be gay is rendered invalid by this.

I suppose you could say that. It's still a hypothesis, but it's certainly a viable one, and it makes sense.

Yeah. I know. I didn't say it was rendered completely, irrefutably invalid. I said it was rendered invalid by that particular argument, which could, in turn, be rendered invalid by something else...it's the same as how some people see evolution as invalidating the concept of a higher power...it's just their perspective on it.

It would, however, invalidate the flawed idea that homosexuality is a personal choice. Clearly, it isn't.

Yeah. Except the people who go by that argument would maintain that gays should transcend their biology and live a chaste life...

How is 'sex' a biological necessity? It might be essential for procreation, but we wont exactly die if we dont 'do it'.

You people are unbelievably shallow, hey

I definately see your point Iron but it seems that sex is just part of the Human Condition and apparently we as a society want to remove any sacredness from anything that gives us pleasure. Obviously so we can get more of it.

But it's an urge that can be controlled if you have, like, a shred of dignity
(and intelligence to second-guess contant market forces trying to diminish your humanity for commercial ends)

Obviously you see the core issue...how many people really do have a shred of dignity?

Disease- A disease or medical problem is an abnormal condition of an organism that impairs bodily functions, associated with specific symptoms and signs.
Pregnancy can be considered a disease by this definition.

idk, I just fear that it's something that kids give away at a very cheap price bc they arent really taught to frame the issue in such terms, m8. Regret seems to ensue

Pregnancy is not an abnormal condition Graney...
How do we distinguish if a condition is, or is not a 'normal' way of being?

Your distinction of what is normal is completely arbitrary. Please define what is normal in scientific terms, in an absolute, quantifiable way.

Right i'm not going to bother even thinking about a clever reply to that, i'll write whatever comes to mind and not fix any typo's. I really don't care if my distinction of what is normal is subjective, almost everything is. How do you get passed the fact that your claim of pregnancy being an abnormal condition was also abitrary. Finally where is your definition "in scientific terms, in an absolute, quantifiable way"? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM????

No, spyro, Graney has a point. By any medical definition, an embryo could be considered a parasite, and pregnancy a parasitic disease. But we don't.

Fine you got me. What else can I say? All I wanted to do was highlight the fact that we shouldn't always approach everything with a cold scientific view.

Youre disgusting Kway. I'd like to see how many doctors describe an embryo as a 'parasite', or pregnancy as a 'disease'. The comparison is so wrong and exposes such wickedness in yourself that it's not even worth getting into how a forming life is nothing like what you suggest.

Anti-birth, anti-life, anti-man awful woman
