When your a Learner the insurance can't be in your name. it has to be in the name of someone who holds a full licence.

insurance isnt a magical thing dummy. There's this thing called excess.

And the hassle of having to get your car/clutch etc. repaired.

To me... it's a magical thing because I've never been taught about it, or had to deal with it, or never taken an interest in it. It's just the way it is.

Guessing in-part intended at me? When I get money, or have fully licensed friends who own a manual, I'll defend why I can't drive a manual, with a complaint here and there.

insurance won't cover you if you're driving without someone licenced though

Edit: Insurance probably wouldn't cover you if you were speeding full stop though eh?
almost impossible to prove though
they'd go for the easiest avenues, unlicensed supervisor, one of you over BAC limit etc
payout would be in hte hundreds of thousands before they think of pointing the speeding finger?

EDIT: to the clown above me, thats not how it works

From memory my insurance policy stated something along the lines of learner drivers being covered provided they had my permission or something to that effect... this is for my Civic's insurance policy btw.

Man, people think all these things about insurance, but you can get away with more than you'd expect.

My grandad with hectic alzheimers, who lost his licence on a doctors recommendation ten years ago, was completely covered by insurance when he decided to put the car through the front room of his neighbours house.

for the record, autos arent that bad

on insurance, wait till you need to pay for it and then think about doing anything dangerous... I was freaking out at work when it was forecast to hail last week, I would need to have my car stolen and burnt out for it to be worth while making a claim, and yes it is people like you who are to blame (dickhead who started this thread)
