Hey, I agree with that. I also think there should be licenses to breed them - if people didn't think either
a) "I want to show my kids the miracle of life!"
b) "I want to make a quick buck selling puppies!"
c) "It's cruel to desex an animal, Rex is a red-blooded male!"

then animal shelters would not have to exist.

you guys remember last year or something, that woman who had those dogs in leeton or somewhere that ripped apart some toddlers the woman was babysitting?

it's because this dolt had treated these fuckoff agrressive animals as "children". let them stay inside all the time, had her undivided attention. and as soon as these midget toddlers were in the house and the attention was off the dogs, the dogs got jealous and ate the kids.

people like this, who do not comprehend that dogs like that especially require boundaries. you dont treat a pitbull like an only child and then wonder why this only child gets pissed off when you turn your focus away from them.

that said, nobody can convince me that pitbulls are a breed worth salvaging. i think they're fucking terrible.

Lol out here pups from good parents (for hunting and stuff) go for ~$250 easily. And if they are unwanted they get thrown in a dam or something similar.

Is there any truth behind the thought that desexed males wont be as good as normal ones? Like will they grow to be as large etc?

Edit: yes that was in witton, the riverinas gunningbland

Absolutely. I cannot tell you how angry thoughtless people make me.

It depends on when you desex them, and the breed. For most breeds, they'll be just as good as. English Springer Spaniel breeders often wait until their male dogs are 2 years old before desexing them because of their rate of maturation.

When I was younger, we owned a Rottie. Because of the reputation, we made sure she was the best-bloody trained dog in the entire area. Forreals, she could have been a service dog.

Didn't stop the caretaker of the school next door accusing her when he was attacked by a stray dog, even though she was asleep inside at the time.
When I was about 10, in the cottage on our property, there was a woman who owned a rottie. She (the dog) was lovely.

Paddy is not desexed yet, he's 1.5 years and isn't terribly aggressive. He just wants to have sex with everything.

Most well-trained entire dogs don't get overly aggressive, just as most well-trained stallions aren't aggressive (the untrained ones ruin the reputation). I just think it's irresponsible to have an entire animal if you're not a show breeder/breeder with a purpose - and unfair to the animal.

I want a puppy. But it would be irresponsible.

- Not home enough
- Don't have enough monies to pay vet bills if something happens
- Fence has a massive hole in it
- Oh yeah, and like... it would cost too much to feed

Until these are cleared up, I must contain myself to seeing Buster every few months, and google images.

90% of king charles cavaliers suffer from sringomyelia, a disease where the back of the skulll is too small and compresses the brain. This frequently causes severe pain for the animal.

Almost all cavaliers have mitral valve disease, and 42% of the dogs will die of heart disease.

They're predisposed to heaps of other genetic problems.

Many other pedigree dogs are just as bad. Should we be deliberately bringing animals into the world that are seriously deformed, just for their aesthetic value? Heaps of breeds are genetic dead ends, the deliberate breeding of a dog that has evidence of any genetic disease should be criminalised.

I kind of neglected my pup a bit when she was younger by not being home enough. So she dug holes and barked and was socially retarded and in turn i beat her lol. Since i started taking her for daily runs and swims and playing with other dogs she is a completely different dog.

Edit: staghounds are genetically superior to everything

I've often wondered...it does seem cruel to keep breeding animals whose lives are characterised by suffering, but then, what's to stop that logic being carried on with regards to humans. Ugh, I suck.

There's been controversy about deaf parents who want to screen their embryos to ensure they have a deaf child.

Agreed - though as one can breed in genetic diseases, one can breed them out. Most of the time they are just for aesthetics, i.e. hip displaysia in german shepherds, and this fault can be bred out simply by not breeding H/H animals.

A good example of this is the deliberate breeding of the deadly HYPP gene in American Quarter Horses.
