Re: Called up Board of Studies regarding 2 related texts

Did it say and one related text or and at least one related text?

and i only just wrote one :spin:
Understanding nourishes belonging...a lack of understanding prevents it.

Demonstrate how your prescribed text and ONE other related text of your own choosing represent this interpretation of belonging.

What a joke.

I lose marks all the time in maths for misreading questions... and this was an ENGLISH exam where you're suppose to read in english. It was in CAPITAL letters for a reason

Actually no, you're absolutely wrong there about maths. Once you get your answer, anything else afterwards is ignored, doesn't matter if it's a continuation of correct working out, or a contradiction. Even if it is a contradiction, markers just write: "subsequent error after answer". You'd still get full marks.
That sound about right to me

I've got an interesting point I just thought of...

Would we be having this same discussion if someone used 3 texts when it said to use 2?

I don't really care if you think I'm being an idiot, don't post then. But I'd just like to see what people think

You should be penalised because you simply wrote about stuff that should not have been there. By your reasoning i could write half an essay on the question then write the other half on dolphins and chicken soup and i would not be penalised for it.

Re: Called up Board of Studies regarding 2 related texts

It's funny.
It was an english paper, and people failed to read.
I demand penalties!!
+1
if you don't read the question properly in the first place, then you shouldn't receive the chance of gaining more marks

Oh btw, in other subjects, like Ancient History, the question says to write TWO, but everyone reccomends to write three.

Just saying.

Yeah, that's exactly how it works. Whatever you write that's correct, you get marked on. If there's anything there that's wrong you don't lose marks, they just ignore it. That goes for Maths and English.

You need to understand- they don't mark your answer to the question, they mark your answer to the rubric. The rubric clearly states "analyse, explain and assess the ways belonging is represented in a variety of texts"

That way, whether you've used one text or a mutlitude, as long as you've made a competent answer to the rubric you'd do fine.

If you've done a fantastic, highly comprehensive essay that encompasses one text, you'll get 15- if you do another, highly comprehensive essay that uses 2 or more texts, you'll also get 15.

Remember- it's not the question; it's the rubric.

Stupid Physics
According to my Physics teacher (actually this probably isn't true 'cause she's such an idiot), even if you get everything required in the answer, if you add something at the end that isn't right, they deduct a mark.

lol well that should only happen if you happen to contradict what you said before that gave you a mark

Unfortunately, the Board of Studies don't give a damn what you think. I'm merely telling you what their policies are with regards to Maths.

Good point. What if somebody decided to write about 3 texts even though it says 1..should they get marked down? According to everyone here, no. Corrupt.
