Hey all, Quick question, as the thread title says, how hard is it to get 70 in 2U Mathematics. I'm ranked 17/23 in a school ranked in 400's. Is 70 achievable?

I don't see how 70/120 isn't achievable - since it's only question 8 onwards that it starts getting a bit hard.

To get 70 scaled, you should really get like 80 HSC mark. To get 80 HSC mark, you should get around 70/120 because 78/100 is usually the median HSC mark for 2 unit and to get the median mark, you must score around 60%.

You must remain conscious of the fact that cut-off varies every year. However, there is a range of marks that are considered band cut-offs. From my point of view, if you score around 100/120, you should score around low 90 i.e. 92-93. That's HSC MARK. This mark gets further scaled to be counted towards your UAI. 92-93 HSC mark should get you about 85+ scaled mark.

You don't want a scaled 70, you want an aligned 70. That's easy to get, like lower than 60% in the exam I'd think

I was wondering - the higher I go abover 100/120, does it mean my HSC mark will go up more percentage-wise than how much the raw mark went up?say I aim for 110/120 - what would that translate to?

As far as I am aware, there is no clear "pattern" between RAW VS MODERATED MARK. So it's not like: 100/120 -> 93 and 101 -> 93.5 or whatever. If you did get 110/120, that should easily be around 97 depending on the exam. There were years in past when the top mark in the state was like 113/120 for 2 Unit Mathematics. With that in mind, 110/120 could actually get you a state rank (but it's rare thesedays as the exam gets easier and easier).As a rough estimate I reckon:100 HSC mark = 119-120/120, 99 HSC mark = 117-118/120, 98 HSC mark = 114-116/120, 97 HSC mark = 111-114/120. But then again, they fluctuate according to years. In 2003, the highest mark in the state was 99 HSC mark which means that no one scored 100% in the paper. Same story for 2006 apparently.

That paper is considered the hardest paper so you shouldnt' feel to bad about yourself. With that mark, I reckon you should safely score Band 6 (JUST though).

Since my other thread isn't getting any responses (FFS), I'll ask my question here. So, in the exam, lets say Person A gets 69% in the HSC exam, and their rank is about average, like 10/20 or whatever, what kind of alligned HSC mark should they expect? Like the combination of internal + external.
