i think this years cut off would prolly be around 70s .
this doesn't make sense. if 80-90 is 91, then 70-80 is 90. that's a hell of a lot of marks to be condensed down to two marks?

i'm hoping for the cutoff to be 60. haha.

Just wondering:

Raw 95
Raw 100
Raw 105

What would be aligned?

you guys should proabbly take note aligning marks isn't linear.

think of it as an lnx graph with x being your mark.

hmm... does anyone else think that the e4 cutoff will be in the early-mid70s/120, considering that 72/120=60%??? coz i really hope so, b/c i made sooo many silly mistakes - if you get the concept right but make like 1 dumb mistake at the end, do you loose most of the marks?

Here's my take.

Last year a 93 exam mark was 86/120?

I'd say this years exam is easier, so we'd expect a 93 exam mark to be around the 91/120 mark (I'm being fairly tight here)

On this basis, I'd say

: band 6 cutoff is 85/120.

: 95/120 --- > 94 exam mark
100/120 ---- > 95/96 exam mark
105/120 ----- > 97
110/120 ---- > 98
110+ ----- > 99/100

I reckon the above is fairly accurate.

so if 85/120 is a band 6, Band 5 cutoff would be around 65/120

For those who are asking about what 40/120 would allign to, I'd say mid to high 60.

and expect a 50/120 to be a low to mid 70.

Goodluck in 3unit and to Timmothy, read ur post in another thread. 110+ solid effort mate.

50/120 as a low to mid 70?

highly doubt that mate.

You said it urself, It's like a ln x graph.

So at the begenning; raw mark / alligned marks ratio is > 1 ( e.g. I get 28/120 it might allign to like 50%)

and towards the end; raw mark/ alligned mark ratio is < 1 (e.g. jumping from 95 to 98 can mean 10+ raw marks)

So if 86/120 = 90
50 /120 = 75 seems just about right.

I knew, but it would start skewing at the really high end of the marks.

ie. starts decreasing linearly at like, 88 scaled

nah matey, scaling is not linear, i still stand by what i say.
80 = 90
90 = 92
100 = 96 or 97
110+ = 98 - 99

yeah, it makes sense now i've thought about it. knew it wasn't linear but didn't expect it to be that extreme.

your 50% should be able to give you a low - mid E3, which is better than a high band 5 in chem, dunno about french though.

good luck.
thanks.

ah french is my saving grace. hoping for 95+.

: band 6 cutoff is 85/120.

: 95/120 --- > 94 exam mark
100/120 ---- > 95/96 exam mark
105/120 ----- > 97
110/120 ---- > 98
110+ ----- > 99/100
.
Is it just me who thinks that those marks are like...really way too high? [as in, 95/120 should get you better than 94, shouldn't it? Or am I completely off?
