Every time we think about same-sex marriage
Makes us sick to our guts
I mean, two people who want to commit to a stable monogamous life-long relationship
What are they, nuts?
It's unnatural!
Now a man should not lie with a person who is a guy
He should only lie to his wife, the bible is clear
We're —
Defenders of marriage
In three-button suits
We'll raise our double standard and see who salutes
Defenders of marriage
Defending the institution against people who want to get married

Every time we hear about same-sex parents
"Oh, my gosh!" we exclaim
I mean, two people who want to provide a protective and nurturing family environment
Have they no shame?
It's so deviant!
It's the Lord's holy word, as my second wife said to my third
That a family's based on obligation and fear
We're —
Defenders of marriage
Connubial narcs
Ever vigilant and patriotic patriarchs
Defenders of marriage
Defending the institution against people who want to get married

One summer evening when my woman was doing laundry
I shared a six-pack with an old John Bircher
And oh so wisely he imparted an ancient quandary, to ponder
He said, "It's nature versus legislature."
Spoken: Are people born gay, or do they turn gay just to piss off Dick Armey?

We're an army of dicks
With a militant stance
Let's get the government out of our lives and into our pants
Defenders of marriage
Defending the institution against people who want to get married
And have their insurance carried
And be beneficiary'd
And be next to the ones they love when they are buried

There's no logical opposition to homosexuality in this entire thread.
Just some reference to an ancient text and a mythical deity and an entire collection of contradictions.

For example, they argue that homosexuality should be banned because it is a sin, just like murder. But they don't actually follow what the other part of their ancient text which says "love thy neighbour as thyself". They say they do but really they want to constrain the law against people who are gay. Moreover they ignore the way the bible supports slavery. etc. etc. etc. They also say people have the right to sin but they shouldn't, and then they want to make particular sins against the law.

Define supremacy?

They're less than 10% of the population, I think you guys will be pretty safe for now.
Supremacy as in legal acknowledgement from our government that this is the most important relationship to society - that it is unquestionably more valuable and benificial than two homosexuals stamping their feet demanding equality with something that they are clearly not equal to

Of course they don't. It's more convenient that way.

Again, valuable and beneficial to whom?

Your argument might be valid if heterosexual marriages were first means-tested on the basis of how well they will raise children. That's without mentioning infertile couples.

or this

or the fact that around a third of marriages end in divorce (which is also prohibited by selective parts of the bibble...)

or the fact that IVF can make lesbian couples 'life giving' now

Love is about doing what is right, and having the courage to look someone in the eye and say what they are doing is wrong, and reaching out to help them with their problems.

Love is not saying "yeah its fine go do what you want as long as you don't disturb me".

“A 'No' uttered from deepest conviction is better and greater than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or what is worse, to avoid trouble."
- Mahatma Gandhi

That's fantastic except you've provided no basis whatsoever from which to assert that it's actually "wrong"

Anti-gay views are not legitimate, they are discrimination. Reaching out and helping people does not mean making a law against who they are.

I am ashamed to think people still have these views. Its beyond a joke.

What law have we suggest which at all prevents homosexuality or inhibits people who so desire to engage in homosexual sex?

You are not a believer, and therfore deliberatley oppose everything the Church says, even in debates which don't even affect you, simply to satisfy your desire to attack other people's beliefs. Amirite?

No you're not. We oppose things that we see as unjust (killing of whales maybe, euthanasia, capital punishment, or even homosexuality). Christianity denies homosexuals rights, so therefore, we oppose christianity. We do not oppose you personally, nor do we want to oppose you practicing your belief. When you however, use your belief as an excuse to impede on another individual's chance for happiness, then we'll have a problem.

Why don't I find a text that says christianity is wrong? I'm sure there are many out there. Why don't I try to make laws against people that are christian? This is the same as what you are doing. You found a text which is against homosexuality. You support it. You want to make it that way for everyone. You want to stop society from recognising gay rights.

Its not normal. Its discrimination.

As a non-believer I couldn't care less what the church says.

All I know is that discrimination against homosexuals is rampant in society, and the irrational hate stemming from yours and most other religions is a major driving factor in this.

Until a few years ago, the age of consent laws DID discriminate against homosexuals in NSW. Young gay and lesbian people have a far greater risk of suicide than the general population.

You can't give any justification for calling homosexuality wrong; you've ignored all my posts refuting your assertions and ignored requests to do so repeatedly in the last few pages of the thread.

I noticed you ignored the pronouncements about getting drunk. And wearing mixed cloth.

So again: you're cherry picking one sin and ignoring others, and that sir is hypocritical.
This :)

Please just explain this. You can't. Or can you? Why do you ignore some parts of the bible and not others?
