00bad00 interestiing.Atheist; though if substantial evidence is presented before me I am willing to change, as I assume everyone else would if given the opportunity.
Do you believe science is the answer to everything?duh, i think there would be very few atheists unwilling to alter their position if adequate evidence were supplied. you know, science.....
Yeah basically.Do you believe science is the answer to everything?
Just curious.
Scorch!Yeah basically.
In the sense that i only have time for answers that are resultant of science/reason/logic/evidence/experience etc, then yes, you might say that.Do you believe science is the answer to everything?
Just curious.
I like the way you provide reasonsing and justifications. I wish I could +rep you, but I've spreaded too much today. In the sense that i only have time for answers that are resultant of science/reason/logic/evidence/experience etc, then yes, you might say that.
I also enjoy the mental gymnastics of philosophy, but i find that to be more concerned with the act of questioning, not with providing answers.
This could not be more wrong. Atheism is a lack of belief in a concept. Agnosticism and atheism are becoming increasingly linked and the distinction is really an unimportant one. Atheism in itself does not claim there is not a God but rejects the assertion that there is one; seeing as though agnosticism is a claim of uncertainty then it sides on a negative point, that is it also rejects belief in God."Atheism is the classic denial of belief in a god. 'Theos' means god and the 'a' means denial."
"Agnosticism is a slightly more humble assertion than atheism. 'Gnosis' means 'to know' and again the 'a' is the denial. Agnosticism therefore is merely saying 'I don't know'...strictly speaking, it is a very honest assertion that has grown out of an age where people feel free to be more honest about their religious thoughts...unlike the classic atheist, the agnostic is less likely to be driven by beliefs."
I'm sorry but my definitions are cited accurately. This could not be more wrong. Atheism is a lack of belief in a concept. Agnosticism and atheism are becoming increasingly linked and the distinction is really an unimportant one. Atheism in itself does not claim there is not a God but rejects the assertion that there is one; seeing as though agnosticism is a claim of uncertainty then it sides on a negative point, that is it also rejects belief in God.
They are almost exactly the same thing, but theists try to use distinctions between the two to cast more extreme connotations onto the word atheist.
