We'll have to see. The election may or maynot be exciting. Obama's health reform seems to be passing so we'll have to see how that pans out. I think the democrats have... what 58? 60 seats? Republicans need to gain alot of seats back.

I don't want Palin to run at all. The horrors- That woman is VILE. Republicans wanted a female candidate as a solution to the Hillary Clinton effect but yuck Palin was so not the answer.

I'm not too certain about other Republican candidates but after a first African American president, you think America is ready to accept someone of Asian descent?

Romney has said nothing - but his committee which he heads up has over $9m - that suggests he is going to run I believe.

Mitch Daniels has to be the greatest member of the GOP.

I want Daniels/whoever or whoever/Daniels

*whoever is within reason

I am anxiously waiting to hear how Obama will change his agenda to lure or retain cheap votes. IMO, he will be a lame duck like Clinton. He is a great salesman but the product he is selling, "big government", is rotten. Cannot wait till the State of the Union.

Wait, I'm uninformed.

Why is this a bad thing?

(too consumed in religious debate to engage in politics).

The healthcare bill is shit because it isn't a universal coverage thing.

But it does still regulate some of the more evil practices of health insurance companies, and it WILL cover tens of millions more Americans, mostly poor and disadvantaged.

There are two main types of critics of the bill. Most all agree that: it is a compromise between two options (free market, and universal healthcare) which accomplishes neither very well. However half of them will think it should've been universal (like Australia's and every other Western country's) while the other half think health insurance should be left to the free market (i.e. if you can't pay for health care, fuck off).

I have little respect for the latter camp.

Even if this HC bill is a compromise, getting it passed in the super-partisan US politics of the Obama presidency proved to be one of the labours of Hercules.

I say well done on America for taking a step towards the sort of universal healthcare that every other developed country has. Now to sit back, wait and see what the results are.

The only reason why we are paying lower prices for medication than the US is we RATION our health care, just like any other "universal systems". The US system is a free market system. The US has been the engine for innovation and discovery. If Obama and his socialist buddies keep on socialising America, there wont be any innovation and discovery for the world.
Health care is not a right, it is shameful to see the majority of us see it as a right. The Dems will be owned in November. I will be campaigning online for the Republicans. Anyone interested in joining?

America is the last bastion of free left on Earth, if socialists like Obama succeed in America, there is no where else for mankind to run to.

PS: Rudd v Abbott health care debate is on tomorrow. How about privatising our health care system huh?

You seriously have no fucking idea, do you.....
Don't worry about Sylvester. He's just grumpy with the world cos his mummy didn't love him properly. Now he's trying to push this lack of maternal care onto the rest of the world through his political views, because he seems to be under the bizarre impression that it makes people into perfectly healthy, functioning adults, just like him.

No, YOU have no idea. I follow American politics more closely than I do Australian and this bill is awful.
Government is the reason healthcarre is so unaffordable in America, and this bill will only make things worse.
