most people here would be talking about English essays.. for which a template is written at home> word count.

About 3-4 A4 pages in 45 minutes in small-medium size handwriting. How much is that in words? Don't know.

How come you guys get 45 minutes??? :S Our teacher is pretty strict on that we should be spending 40 minutes no more, no less on our essays.

Don't know how many words, but I write 4 A4 pages in 40 minutes, even with my teeny tiny hand writing....its so small some teachers refuse to mark my work and defer it to teachers with better eyesight.

I can't see how the battery thing would work, wouldn't it just make your writing with the lighter pen more messy due to the free feel?

when i write an essay in 40 mins i practically write non-stop which basically means i write like 12000 words in 40 mins and i have used the battery pen which has helped in many ways and also the right pen is very important ( my friend used the battery thing since she was in year 9 now shes in year 12 and she writes 10 times faster than me in 40 mins.... :)
So..she can write 120000 words in 40 minutes? WOOOWWW!!! :p

I think I'm quite fast...

When I write normally..it's about ten words a minute..

In an exam..this goes up to about fifteen a minute

Your teacher is right, but our school knows that you'll most likely be spending more time on your essay and less time on the reading section ;)

Writing non-stop --> nearly reaching 1500 words. Then again, only a select group of people (fortunately this includes teachers) can probably read it.

my disadvantage isnt that i cant write fast [cos i can write at a decent speed] but it's the spacing out.. some people can write the same amount of words as i do.. but end up with 4 pages more in quantity! This immediately puts me at a disadvantage. (eg. some people write 5-6 words per line.. i write on average 9-10)

I could fix it.. but then my speed would be slightly distorted and it would mean restructuring my style of writing
