it's essentially SIBT...Macquarie is trying hard to establish a reputable name, but yet they establish an institution where you can essentially buy your way to a degree.

No doubt though, the place looks hot.

Is a shame that MQ seems quite willing to sell its academic integrity.

On another note, what a crappy website -- Looks like something I'd make, not something I'd expect a uni to have.

Can you really buy your way into a degree through this campus? How so? (I'm genuinely asking as I don't know much about this campus).

Who said you can buy your degree there???

I work there. The contract signed by Macquarie City (Navitas) and Macquarie University is that all teaching has to be exactly the same as in the university. In particular, exam paper is at least as hard as those in the university. Exams are monitored by the univesity as well as by external auditors.

Then why the different entry criteria, which seem notably more lax and focussed on upfront payment?

... The university can't even standardise teaching to be exactly the same as other departments...

In particular, exam paper is at least as hard as those in the university. Exams are monitored by the univesity as well as by external auditors.
I'm sure the exam papers are somewhat difficult, but is that what a university is?

Secondly, the exams are monitored by the city campus. Unless I am mistaking, there is minimal interaction between the city campus and North Ryde staff. In fact, I resent calling it another campus - it is effectively a college.

Thirdly, external auditors (as you call them) are only present to ensure tertiary standards. If you are suggesting that their presence is somewhat reassuring, then you should check out other ... alternate ... universities in Australia, which are also fully certified by these same auditors. It does not support your case.

LOL.

You're kidding right? Is this why unit convenors are told to hand over unit outlines without so much the input into the teaching of their relevant subjects?

It'd be interesting comparing failure rates between the 2 campuses.

there is a big difference between the two campuses, as a current student studying at Macquarie City Campus the classes are smaller as you get to spend more time qith your lecturers if you need that extra help, obviously the location and also the campus offer internships. Assignments and assessments are the same- my friend who is studying the same degree but she's studying out at North Ryde, when we share the lecture notes their the same. SOme of the lecturers that teach at MQ teach here in the city...

that is not true, you can't buy your degree at all..I am an accounting student and I am studying hard to earn my Macquarie degree, I didn't pay for my degree at all, I'm still studying hard just like the rest of my friends. If we are able to buy a degree, MQ uni would lose it's face value and reputation..
You should have proof to say that...why lie for. all my friends are sitting here reading this and to read this is absolutely awful as I will be completing my degree at the end of this year...get your facts right before you write this..you don't know anything about the campus.

Mr Wong is my lecturer in my Statistics class, he has a good reputation and an excellent teacher...the teaching is exactly the same and to mr Monstar I would like to find out how Macquarie City Cmapus is doing. The Australian and international students in my class have strong academic grades...don't know about you..you seem like a depressing person...

He's an Associate Lecturer and no one I know likes his methods/ways of teaching. But he's such a nice guy. Very kind bloke indeed. He has heaps of credentials, rite.

Not exactly the same. The teaching staff at the city campus mostly are tutors/markers at MQ (4 instance Ms. Lydia Walker, LIC of ACCG224 this sem at the city campus is a tutor/marker, same to Mr. Julian Dight, LIC of ACCG224 and Lecturer of BUSL301. I love them so much though.). But it's not to say that they are worse. But tbh, Navitas owns the MQ city campus and MQ just provides qualifications. U can ask Mr. Julian Dight about this. So maybe there's something easier to graduate from the city campus than the main one. STAT170 is an example 4 sure.

Anyways, Imao the Ryde campus is better but all are different of course. No need to be to aggressive here.

No formal internship at both campuses. Do not self-motivate.

And u're an overseas (student) chick, I dare say?

why did this old topic get bumped? its the internetzz so swearing is common.

it's pretty obvious you're an international from the way you post, and if you live long enough here or the U.S is common to here ppl gossiping about buying your degree or paying your way through. its essentially what all accounting students are doing nowadays.

loads of international students are sent here by their parents because they 1. couldn't make into a top uni in their own country 2. PR. tbh majority of the unis in australia are shit. when they come here they feel proud of their uni and immediately join clubs and stick really close to their friends who are also international students. esp mainland chinese students (no offense but im speaking the truth) who are too scared and afraid to socialise with the local students hence poor communication skills. by the time they graduate they are jobless.

most of the unis in aust esp sydney, ones with large accounting courses use unethical marketing practices.

compare to the universities or colleges in the U.S.

poor girl got exploited. must read>
