After my shocking results of the half yearlies I realise I now have to work my butt off and use my time well if i want to fucking own the Atar mark which i'm aiming for! So I have decided to do at least 5 hours a night with lots of breaks in between!

How many hours are you guys willing to put in for this term? :)

OP: What's your definition of shocking? Mine were probably worse.

I was a bit pissed at my results, especially at Music II

I probably need around 2 hours a day of study on average. Though tbh I might do more or less, depending on whether if I need it or not. It's more about how effectively you study, not necessarily how much you study.

To the OP. Personally i believe 5 hours is WAY too much. I'd say 2-3 hours a night is the absolute maximum required, of course depending on homework and what type of studying your doing (Syllabus notes/past papers or reading). Make sure you do have breaks because down time is essential, otherwise you will end up burning out or breaking.

In reading your post i don't know specifically how bad you went in your exams, but i wouldn't recommend banging out more hours than what you might have initially been doing. It could be the way your revising or issues like time management. Just bear these in mind before you down yourself with excessive amounts of extra study.

Anyway good luck, hope it works out all good in the end.

As much as I can be bothered to do. I wasn't disappointed with my half yearly results, so I just have to work at retaining those ranks. Usually I do a couple hours each night. But sometimes I procrastinate far too much, or end up focusing on an assignment for too long, etc.

Good luck to all who are trying to improve their marks and ranks. Remember don't stress too much, and try your best to study effectively rather than more.

You're all wrong, studying right now does not help at all. All you need is 4 hours the night before for every subject except maths, which requires a bit more.

All I'm doing now is completing most of my homework, and doing 11 hours tuition on weekends, like a boss.

its like sacrificing half a year to gain everything in the long term. Study hard and give it your best shot, just don't over do it and burn out

Although I am overly satisfied with my half yearlies marks. I am devoting myself to study more than I did on term 1 and term 2.

About 4hours a day now. Mostly maths.

fk all these, "how you study crap". If you can't study properly in year 12, you failed. You SHOULD know how to study properly. The only stress is the time you put in. Of course it's better to study more. But if you're studying 4 hrs in front of facebook, TV, PS3, Nintendo = LOL. Fking wasted 4hrs of your life .

I did pretty bad in bio, despite coming second. D: I know I screwed up my english assessment task that was after the half yearlies. I'm gonna aim for around 2-4 hours a day depending on what day (afternoon extensions and extra homework get in the way). And I'm going to try to be more motivated in the weekend. I'm almost never disciplined on a weekend.
