lol mate it's your choice if you wanna do it, but rest assured the consequences are there, and it's pretty possible that they can pick it up. i figure they have methods of sorts.
Haha yeah, our teachers told us once that like 3 people from different schools had exactly the same belonging creative wwriting story. (Maybe the same tutor gave it to all his students to reproduce)
So yeah, I think they do have ways of discovering it.
But as peeople said, there are thousands of essays, so if you want to take the risk its your choice.
But definitely plagiarism

Basically, if you do anything that in anyway relates to her essay, it's plagiarism.

This wouldn't be plagiarism if you're using totally different quotes and examples.
But if you read her essay, you would probably tend to end up using her examples anyway.

Yes it would. You're reusing someone else's ideas. That's plagiarism.

Sorry, I kinda interpreted it as meaning more like 'issues' or 'themes', like a very general, broad concept.
Beecause within a class you'll find that most people would study the same themes/issues but use different examples, and branch into specific theses, to create very different essays.

In a sense yes.

They will be formulated on your own understanding of the course material, theorists etc. So it's not 100% original. However, it is your interpretation of these ideas combined.

What you are suggesting is taking someone else's understanding of the text (in this case your friends) and passing it off as your own interpretation. That is plagiarism.

If you got her to teach you the text in-depth and somehow she influenced her thoughts and stuff from the text onto you through her analysis and stuff and then the notes you took from that contributed to your essay somewhat then that's not plagiarism.
Also it's fairly unlikely they would notice your essay as plagiarism if you used the main ideas and stuff but changed quotes and shit because heaps of people would have the same main ideas.

My teacher is also a HSC marker, and he said they keep records of sample essays from previous year for marking criteria/mark setting. So if your friend wrote a similar essay, and its good, most likely they will still have it. Apparently, every year there are atleast a handful of essays caught out and given a 0 mark if they are similar

from all the essays that are done, do you honestly think that youre the only one, just like your friend was, to use those quotes and explanations?

nothing will happen, you will be fine, good luck with your hsc

the fuck dude, heaps of kids will be conveying the same ideas, theres only so many ideas that can be explored in a text....
Yeah, but they're not taking them directly from someone else's essay. That's the difference.
