Re: 2012 USYD Chatter Thread

Lol...yeah, doing science/arts. I have 14-hole docs as well, would they be ok for science?
No. They're too short.

You need a hazmat suit to participate in labs.

Re: USYD Roll Call 2012

I believe your major plan may change a lot at uni lol

The reason is:
1) uni chem is nothing like HSC chem. Much more like what a chem course should indeed be like (just wait and see) but this also means much harder.
2) double major in med chem and chem? If you've noticed that no unit can count towards separate majors at the same time, that means you are gonna do 6 chemistry subjects in the 3rd year with two pharmacology subjects in the first semester.
problem officer?

Re: 2012 USYD Chatter Thread

I have a $150 law textbook I will need to purchase for Semester 1. Boy, it's been awhile since I needed to buy something as pricy as that.
Law textbooks are the worst. Once did 4 CLAW subjects in a semester. Expensive.

Can't really do them second hand either as they become out of date quickly (And thus they have low resale value)

First years should check out Textbook Exchange

Pretty good for second hand books.

You would probably be better off just catching a train from Lidcombe to Redfern.

Re: USYD Roll Call 2012

^ How can you afford that?
(I'm poor (not really (not well-off though)))

Doesn't everyone?
(Fuck yes! Totes doing eng now)
It's a faculty obsession from what I hear.

Are you going to uni with the view of buying food & drinks REGULARLY on campus? If so, then the discounts will be of some value to you.

Similarly, if you're looking to join clubs & societies, many require membership to Access.

Just for clarification, unless rules have changed this year, you need an acces card to be a member of any club and society (as they are run through the union).

I think joining a club or society is a really good way of meeting people on campus - they are lots of fun and they cater to many different interests.

Similarly, if you want to do a sport, you have to be a member of the sports union. :)

On the topic of textbooks - if you are studying law, it will
end up costing (at least in 4th yr when it's pure law subjects) aprox $500-700 a semester for textbooks. It's expensive and frustrating, but very difficult to get second hand as they get out of sat very quickly- also difficult then to sell on.
