Compared to last time (which wasn't official anyway), I'd say today was a huge success. Seminars were churned out, people gained something from them and most importantly, we all enjoyed ourselves whilst being (mostly) productive.
A MASSIVE thanks to Parramatta Library and in particular the lovely Katherine for being an enormous help on the day. Remember that Parra has one of the largest collections of student resources/textbooks etc so if you want to get work done after school etc, that's the place to go. I had no idea during my HSC, so I'm just letting you guys know now.
The day started off smoothly. Met up with helpers (BIG thanks to you, enjoyed shopping with you guys!), went to Woolies and purchased everything we needed for breakfast. Afterwards we headed back to the Library and started setting up everything before it opened in time. As more and more people came, the cliques started to form and it was clear who knew who from their online persona. Newer people joined these groups and people made new friends, good to see! Many shy people of course, but a solid start nonetheless. We also had a visit from Rafy and townie, who watched over the event to see how it was going.
After packing up breakfast, it was time to begin the very first seminar on Humanities. Things went smoothly and a few people sitting towards the back started watching it instead of doing work, but that's still okay! Afterwards I had my seminar on MX1 and upon finishing that, it was lunch time!
More people came by during lunch, no doubt to scab food, but we still had some leftover anyway. Lunch went for a good hour or so and soon it was time for the MX2 seminar. That went well and reception has been positive, so I look forward to organising similar events for MX2 students.
Afterwards, I was absolutely trashed and gone for the day (lack of sleep etc) and students were getting restless anyway, so it was time to go home.

To all the tutors and mods who came, thank you so much for today. You made today (yesterday) the success it was. Essays were checked, people were tutored with whatever they wanted to get tutored with, and the students gained something positive overall. I admit people got rowdy sometimes, but that can't be helped. We have indeed taken photos, but do not intend on releasing them yet until we have everybody's permission.
====================================================
However of course, things did go wrong.
1. Things were a wee bit cramped to begin with because of the fact that we only had the Retro Room for the first couple of hours. The Darug Room was mostly used for the seminar and lunch. Next time I will try to get both rooms simultaneously so we don't need to cram people.
2. The behaviour of some people was ESPECIALLY disappointing, especially since it was done whilst I was away. I am most certain that they would not have done what they did if I was there or I would have kicked them out immediately. I am not going to name names, these people know who they are, and you will most certainly not be invited to attend any future events similar to this. Totally selfish to place the credibility of the event at risk like that.
===================================================
But of course, many fun memories were had.
=====================================
A few amusing stories of my own:
1. When RivarlyofTroll arrived (average IQ dropped significantly) and started yelling on about how he should be moderator of "Love & Relationships" to me, when Rafy was right in front of him (He did't know what Rafy looked like)
2. I don't remember who it was, but I think somebody asked who was Carrot or where I was, when I was right there in front of them.
3. Realising that there was no plain milk to eat cereal with, despite having several bottles of flavoured milk.
I am sure there are a couple more but my head is a bit fuzzy (I think I caught a fever from somebody, usual symptoms etc) so hopefully I'll be more fresh tomorrow for more stories/news.
=====================================
Next term holidays, I will organise a Pre-HSC Meat, where I will ask the best of BOS to write mock HSC papers as close to HSC standard as possible, then to give time for students to do them, then go through them all afterwards in separate classes.
I sure had a lot of fun today, despite being tired, and I hope you all had lots of fun and gained something too!

I can really imagine him saying that. It's the 'hectic' part.Deswa: "get out your calculator. I'll show you something hectic."
This is very true, but it did make socialising a lot more easy for many people, having already known their online persona which usually reflects their irl personality.I told siddy this before but it's pretty weird knowing so much about someone without ever meeting them before.
Wrong of them to do that and they could get into trouble for that.True. Well, my maths teacher took photos of our class and she posted them to her Facebook with out permission, so annoying...
I bet he was just there to troll me. Lamest name tag ever.Lold @ the look of rage on carrot's face when he saw 'rote learning' written on wild's nametag.
Well... I do!lol first thing in mx1 seminar.... "i HATE rote learning"
I wonder what the object was..And also that maths example in which wildchild threw an "object" at the wall lul
For all the grief you've ever caused me =)hahaha yea, and some1 yelled it was a baby haha.
and carrot threw a rock at me in the first example
I heard a bit of that. Very... enlightening.9.) Meeting the great shadowdude and having our little convo with Aysce and Rivalry
More hilarious moment - Carrotsticks entering the room and suddenly everyone is shouting "rote-learning" haha
Lold at the rage on carrot's face when bean had a nametag which said carrotsticks
ahaha and not only that
violently ripping it off bean's chest and crumpling it up
lol'd at you screaming out 'It's twinkle GAL!'
For those you don't already know, my username's pronounced TWINKLE-GAL not TWINK-LEGAL
big difference
Do so please, apologies for causing you to get a fine.Hey its not funny- that's $99. I'll contest it though- will report back with deets.
I'll ask.Upload the group photo of the mods?
