What do you guys think? I personally thought it was a reasonable exam but significantly harder than last years and the ones prior to it, and I think some MC may have threw others off but generally were easy, I'm going to say 74-75 for band 6, and 61-62 for band 5.

Was a pretty easy exam, except I could only do part A of Question 16. I was the same with MC, I saw the tricks but I could see how others may be fooled, so your cutoffs look reasonable, maybe band 5 a little higher

Just said what I was about to post.

MC seemed rather easy to me, I hope I didn't fall into any holes that I didn't realise were tricks :S

For MC, 10 was a little whack, I figured B as all the others have negative values in them meaning they deduct a fair bit, And B was bigger than the area for A.

If you didnt know your log laws then 9 and 7 would have been tricky.
2,3 involved minuses and pluses, missing one part or minusing where you should be adding would get a few people

According to this raw mark database I've read before its only 78 for B6 on average. But a new test structure might throw that downstream. By the sounds of it, many are saying it was a reasonable/hard exam

Sigh... I know i've lost 10 marks already (minimum) - as i didn't actually know how to do the questions
If I just lost 10 marks can I still get an HSC mark of 95 for 2u maths? my internal assessment mark is 91.

no way band 6 cut-off is only 74-75. Our trial cut-off was 85 and this was roughly the same level.

So lets say you end up with 82 as a bare minium, that might get scaled to 92, if you came first in your cohort, 91 becomes 92, HSC=92. But yeah thats if you get another 8 things wrong, and its not even an educated guess, You'll be right :D

Easy for you, not for 95% rest of the state.
this. also note after you reach a certain raw mark, e.g 95/96, scaling doesn't boost it up as much as getting a raw of 80.

overall a fair test, should be around 80 for cut off.

74-75 for a Band 6?????? WTFFFF, more like 85-88 since the exam was quite easy apart from 16.c)

if 74-75 was cut-off then I can get 100 easy.
+1 Was pretty straightforward till Q16. - A) was just a geometry (bit harder than normal) - B) was just fiddling with identities etc - C) i was like WTFFF!

In 2008, 73% was scaled up to a 92, I'd say 2012 was a little easier so probably 73/100 for band 6
