2014 Reading Goals? (2 Viewers)

Minimal reading for EE1 and EA...brain is so overwhelmed
But for leisure, planning on reading lots of non-fiction (find it easier to get into than fiction), particularly biographies and stuff about real-life events (esp. pop culture!)

Yeah I tried to read the Hobbit before but only got so far before I found another book that caught my interest. It's a really bad habit of mine, reading one book and then moving onto the next just completely forgetting about the previous one. My next on the list after Sherlock is Great Gatsby so I'll tell you what I think of it when I'm done

My cousin said that Jose Saramago is a good author so I'm excited to read her book

1984 is a really great book. Had to read it for Year 11 and I loved it. A bit on the depressing side at times though in my opinion

Book Thief is one of my all time fave books. I read it because this enigma of a boy chose it for his reading assignment and talked about in great depth at the end of Yr 8. Never Let Me Go was right up there as well for me, I read it start of 2012 and actually used it for a belonging portfolio exercise. Catch 22 I read for ATB and I couldn't stand the thing, one of those love or hate books. Read GG and Catcher in the Rye start of this year, liked GG a lot, Catcher in the Rye was okay, I just wasn't sympathetic at all for the protagonist which made the middle a little tedious.

I loved Catch-22, read the whole book three times throughout the year-no skipping mind you, initially, I didn't understand what it was on about since there are so many characters and the time line is anything but chronological, but I think the second or third time when I read it, I enjoy the book more and more. I think it will be one of my favourite books of all times. I should read the Book Thief very soon-I heard so much about the book and movie it is quite tempting to read it.

I really enjoyed 1984/Brave new world/ and extremely loud and incredibly close. Personally thought 'The Book Thief' was really over rated

Unfortunately I don't read much sci-fi to suggest!

They were both excellent books, I really loved a Handmaiden's Tale especially. I found A Clockwork Orange a bit hard to get into at first (and nearly stopped reading it) since the author partially made up a language for the characters (e.g. "horrorshow" means "good"), but I once I got used to the new vocab it was pretty decent.

I've just started Infinite Jest, so there goes the next two months.
