Hi all,

This is like the one thing I haven't properly looked at yet and chem trials are on Friday 🤩

Could someone please give a quick rundown of the properties of the different polymers? Maybe how and why they have their properties too...?

Thank you! <3

its pretty obv tho
LDPE : PLASTIC BAG WHAT R THE PROERPTIES OF T PLASTICS BAG
HDPEl; PRPERTIES OF A CHOPPING BOARD
POLYTETRAF: WAHT R THE PROPERTIES OF THE LUBRICATING THINGS
POLYETHYENLYBETZNESE OR SYTRNE: DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT POLYSTYRENE IS ALR JUST TALK ABOUT THAT
VINYL CHLORDIDE: SEWAGE PIPE PROPERTIES UNLESS U ADD PLASTICISERS
NYLOa6^6: U KNOW WHAT NYLON IS FROM REALI LIFE
PET: YOU ALSO KNOWW
THANKS BUT WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN

STRONG = LOTS OF INTERNOLECULAR AND TIGHTLY PACKED (JUST LOOK AT STRUCTURE TO SEE)
HIGH BP = LOTS OF INTERMOLECULAR FORCES
POLAR = LIKES WATER (LIKE SOAP)
NONPOLAR = HATES WATER (ALSO LIKE SOAP)

PVC = LOTS OF DIPOLEDIPOLE(ELECTRONEGATIVE CHLORINE) AND DISPERSION = HIGH BOILING POINT AND STRONG
NOT MANY PLACES TO REACT SO IT DOESNT REALLY REACT MUCH
ADD OTHER THINGS TO GIVE IT ALL DIFFERENT PROPERTIES TO MAKE IT MORE RIGID OR FLEXIBLE OR WHATEVER U WANT

go ahead waste ur time

the the question asking abt other polymers gives u diagrams and makes u apply what u know e.g condensation u remove OH and H and blah blah
yeah nah there's been like three or four questions ive run into that go into "explain how the properties of polymer blah blah make it strong"
