also abt this, will it make our degrees longer/shorter?? soz I have 0 clue as to how they work
no need to apologise uni is super confusing !! trimesters actually offers the ability to do 1 extra course a year, though most people do 3-3-2 (subjects per term), which is 8 per year, and semesters offers a 4-4 structure so still 8 per year. so your degree will take the same time

WTF WAIT WHICH SCHOOL IS THIS??
Knox grammar :blink2:
genuinely most of those expensive boys grammar schools are EVIL... men need to learn how to talk to and exist around women (and also not be surrounded by out-of-touch pompous freaks) so they dont end up like that
i feel like the selective boys schools and other stuff is fine though

Idk if this is controversial but i think co-ed > single sex because then it prevents issues like this by socialising men w women and women w men, which outweighs any academic benefits.
I know somebody who's gone to a private girls school since pre-school and she sees the idea of men as... like... designer handbags. She also doesn’t comprehend how guys aren’t that innocent and stuff

Mechanical Engineering is so cool! I was planning on Electrical as my second choice, but I got an early offer for double degree Actuarial + something else. Right now I’m planning on doing BSci (Math) or Information Systems if I can’t handle the former option. If you know anybody who does a Math major in Science I’d like to know how difficult it is.
I kinda fell in love when I saw the UNSW campus, especially the engineering buildings were majestic af. Also the idea of the clubs and societies seem cool, but I’m worried some of them are cliquey. Are you in any clubs/societies and are they actually active??

yep I completely get you. but ive noticed a lot of students esp in the western Sydney area tend to have somewhat sexist traits/mindsets even if they go to co-ed schools. idk if a lot of these guys say things as a joke or if they genuinely believe it... however im 90% sure the type of ppl we were discussing before are a lot worse 💀 Its actually shocking that ppl genuinely see each other in those ways HOWWW

sorry long ass message…

i’m in mechsoc and elsoc, (mechanical / electrical engineering) and there’s SOOO many more. societies are funded by the uni and very very busy. there are many societies that have bi weekly trips to the bar down the street 🤣. if that isn’t for you (it wasn’t for me) there are so many other societies and they are all very active.

for a math course, there’s even math societies that give you detailed course notes for your courses before you go through them, very cool

i know a LOT of math majors, and yes it’s hard but you partially get to decide the difficulty. some subjects come with a standard difficulty and a harder difficulty (i.e MATH1131 and MATH1141) which you might have to take first term. they have the same course content and don’t really scale differently but 1141 has a harder final exam. so in those cases, u decide the difficulty. i’d recommend only doing the harder ones if you are willing to have sleepless nights over basic courses, other than that, there’s no need to.

math courses are *very* difficult as they are pure math; so conceptual. it depends what math major you do, there are 3 options: advanced math, pure math, or advanced statistics. i’d say pure is the hardest.

so yes, hard course, but nothing u can’t do
