I also thought it was funny that all of the options for section AA on the gear thing were technically wrong , i don't remember what MC q it was but there was no reason for it to be a revolved section when the section plane already went through a hole, but C was the most correct ig

I didn't think you were meant to section parts of the shaft, so i did the one with the correct hole positions and the shaft unsectioned
EDIT: The teeth that is, the shaft is the entire thing

The holes are rotated around on a pitch circle diameter and the shaft is unsectioned

Heat treatment one? Was that the one where you had to choose which row of the table was correct when matching 4 microstructures to the label. I had D? i think. It was the only one that labelled the micro-structure that was 100% pearlite as steel, the other 3 had it as cast iron

No (was D btw), the heat treatment short answer. The one for the gears. I asked chat and they only said two answers. carburising is the best answer but I think induction hardening also works (what I put). I can't remember if it was mild carbon steel or medium carbon steel.

what did u guys get for the stress one with the bolts. The second part was prtty easy I think but the first part was a bit confusing cause they gave u the thickness of the plates which doesn't rlly make sense in the context of stress for the gears. I think I ended up just using the diameter for each of the gears and the overall tensile load/3. I can't fully remember

stress = f/a, f is a third of the number they gave you and a is the cross sectional area of bolt given by (pi*d^2)/4

13200 doesn't sound right, as the load is 12kn. I think I got around 9.4kn and 60 something efficiency I think

I think u sum forces vertical, finding the normal, then sum forces horizontal with friction force (coefficient of friction times N) and weight force opposing the force of the gear. then as its 40º to the axis u divide the unknown force by cos40.

Did you remember to note that the winch's force is 10 degrees from the incline, since its 40 degrees from the horizontal
