Haha, I just put it in academic because it was a school organised activity and involves some academic activities (eg report writing, and both my skill and volunteering activities were 'academic' based). If you want to include it I don't think it was detriment you in any way : )
Do 12 if you're unsure about 2 subjects (eg if you aren't sure if you're going to do better in eco or physics then keep both). However, if you know you're significantly worse at a certain subject then just drop it and do 10.
Make sure you time your practices - any practice without a timer and not in pseudo exam conditions (closed book, handwriting) will not be as effective!
If you're 2nd then you won't be significantly disadvantaged as long as the person who is first does well. I would prioritise forming a study group with the top 3 or 5 in those subjects to make sure you all smash externals.
If you search online other tutoring centres may have them or some samples (eg Delta, Matrix etc.). Or you can find people who did the same texts as you and buy their essay as a guide.
I have found Ken Webb to be AMAZING. His resources are concise, covers ALL dot points syllabus exactly and have histography too. Really really really great resource for history, helped me out a TON.

My main advice:
Have a well rounded application! Try to show that you...
