I'm having a look in the 2012 Handbook and I can't seem to find any reference to Media & Communications being a valid major in a combined degree.
In instances like these, I would always recommend doing an equivalent degree at another university and then externally transferring. As you said, there is a risk of failing to hold an adequate WAM to transfer.
