90.75, a bit lower than I was hoping but nonetheless I got guaranteed entry into my first preference (international studies/media & communication (PR & advertising) @UNSW) so I can't complain :)
English Advanced: 93 (band 6)
Modern History: 89 (band 5) :(
History Extension: 38 (E3)
Society and Culture: 87 (band 5)
Studies of Religion I: 44 (band 5) :(
Japanese Beginners: 90 (band 6)
the 89 and 44 tho :( but I'm hoping for a 90+ atar! What range am I sitting in right now?
thanks!
WWI - not a bad section, I felt like the sources were a bit simplistic in comparison to previous years but nonetheless it was still a fairly easy section. One of the mcs (the intended audience of source A) threw me off and I think I might have got it wrong + I really disliked the 2 marker on how...
seems like common sense, but if you have a major work DON'T LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. It's so easy to fall into the trap of "oh, I still have ages" and to prioritise other tasks (like upcoming exams or assessments). But please, work consistently on them and get feedback/as much help from...
Yeah, Cambodia seems to come up a lot but they always seem to ask about the rise to power, they haven't explicitly asked the other sub dot-point yet (nature, aims and methods of Pol Pot). Though I would be surprised if Cambodia came up again tbh.
This happened to me first day of exams (English and Japanese Beginners), and it wasn't too bad. Just relax, make sure you eat something, drink water, go bathroom etc etc. If you need to, take energy pills (no doz) because a 3 hour exam will probably tire you out (I did this after english and it...
Don't worry, I was learning a language too and I had another major work for SAC and I found extension history to be fine! The workload is pretty heavy for a one unit subject but it's to be expected of an extension course. If you enjoy history, I'd really recommend it! I love history and doing...
I was looking at the proposed changes to the course and it really seems useless. I'm not a big fan of AOS (mainly bc of creative and unseen) but I don't see the need to get rid of it. Pointless move by BOSTES, really.
I'd like to do Media & Communications (majoring in PR & advertising)/International Studies (majoring in international relations) with Japanese as my chosen language stream, ideally at UNSW. What about you? :)
Would I be correct in assuming that popular options (like Germany 1918-1939, Albert Speer, and Conflict in Indochina) are generally weighted less because there's more competition/the standard is higher? Or is it based more on the difficulty of the questions in each option (e.g if Conflict in...
yeah I've heard it's between 80-83 but I feel like it'll be pushed up to around 83-85 raw this year given that the exam this year didn't seem particularly difficult.
I know it does change each year but does anyone roughly know what raw mark is needed in order to achieve a band 6 in modern history (I'm assuming it's about 90)? I checked rawmarks.info but there's not much info on it. :(
