hi guys, i'm currently in year 11 and have been ranking almost 1st in all my subjects. I have always been excelling at school and ranking high in junior years (7-10). Since im in year 11 now, the whole idea of "rankings" is a widely spoken topic across the grade, and it's always a major aspect of an assessment. As im doing well, ive noticed that my friends have stopped congratulating and encouraging me, and Im getting the occasional eye roll from them when I tell them my results. however im very happy and cheer for my friends when they rank well as well, but the feeling and excitement is not reciprocated. im a bit hurt, and I don't know what to do.

i suppose it does seem a bit flaunt-esque to tell people your good marks without being explicitly asked

Yeah. My sister experienced the same jealously, from Year 7 to now. She moved schools now, and is in a much better state.

If you're friends are displeased by your achievements (which is your hard work by the way), then you deserve better friends than those who just judge you based on rankings.

Is everyone like this in your cohort?

thank you so much. yes for me its been from year 7 as well, and its getting really hard to be happy with my mark if i can't really share it. its a silent achievement but it doesn't really feel like one if no one knows about it. i reckon its all jealously, but i wish they would be happy for me just like i am happy for them. I'm glad to hear your sister is doing better!

for some people, they are really supportive. but some really just can't have you succeed. but that is life, and at the end of the day, its important to be the mature person lol
