  • Thanks. Nope I don't have anything, the only thing I had was my moodle thingo and i gave you the usern and pass to it so yeah :)
Hey man long time no talk, how've you been!?

I was wondering if you could quickly send me over solutions to the 1998 3U Sydney boys trial exam?

    Thanks alot mate.
Well... it's hard to say. I never put in the amount of effort I probably should have during the HSC (mainly due to lack of interest for my other subjects). I definitely do have spare time, and I have a 3 day weekend. The most important thing though is that it's not a chore to do work. I see the maths that I have to do and I think "great, let's get stuck in" and I enjoy doing it so I don't worry about whether it's time consuming. Since my free time often coincides with when my friends are busy at uni then I can do the work then and then hang out with them when they're free.

There is a lot more freedom than school though :)
Well good for curiosity but I don't believe they'll really benefit your study...

Uni is great, I did so much maths today hahaha - probably like 10 full pages at least. Just a heap of questions then filling in the course notes as we went through the lecture, was all fun though! All Linear Algebra stuff I did today though.
Hahaha I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to get the solutions to anything pre-1980's. I don't think any of the teachers at my school had them (and they were all from the 70's).
I don't think it comes with worked solutions, so I wouldn't get it! Plus, I'd really only recommend starting from like 1988 at the earliest for past papers!

And you already have all the papers from back then don't you?
Hahah yea I thought 3U was easy as, and I was disappointed that I didn't see everything in the exam but what can you do!

Not really. Any good 4U student shouldn't struggle with 3U. Sure there are a couple of little tricks that you'll have to use (such as in binomial theorem problems) but otherwise it's mostly straight forward (I thought so anyway).
You can easily do it. I walked into the exam expecting to get 80+/84. I was dominating the past papers and getting 78 and above in under an hour and feeling really good about it. Then they threw us last years exam and it was a little different... not really sure what I would have gotten for it but I think it was under 70.

Last years exam had some SHM, Circle Geometry and Differential Equations stuff that at the time I just wasn't seeing.
