    I'm coming second by less than a percent in maths. assessment mark of around 79 and the first person is 80.
    If the first person stuffs up externals and gets around 80% but I get 92%, that means that He will get 92% for internal and I will get 91% to maintain that gap right? so overall I will get a hsc mark of 91.5-> rounds up to 92 and the first person internally will get 86%. is that right?
    The actually mark more easily than in class because it is the final time you have a chance to show what you can do e.g. if I would give a person 17/25 for their trials I will probably go to 19/25 at the actual HSC.

    As our SOM always says - this is the last time and there is no improvement after this so give as many marks as possible - it is a first draft until exam conditions.
    Hello Ms. Is learning the equites, nobiles etc useful for the hsc? and is there any books i can borrow in the library on them? the internet isn't being a very big help.

    Hi Cem, you helped me with my trials a lot..
    I was wondering, what is the most effective way to study for Modern? Should I just write notes on every syllabus dotpoint, and memorise them? I know that planning essays should be avoided, although for the personality question, will it always be about their effects on history?

    Thanks for the rep cem, I'm glad you liked my guide. Hopefully, it can give people a good idea of what is required to write a band 6 level Modern essay. From the questions people have asked me, I gather that most have a great understanding of the course, they just dont know how to convert that understanding into an essay. Hopefully this guide will be able to help them out.
    I am - with over 30 years experience - and hence why I try to steer clear of some of the threads here - so that the young ones can have their fun but hopefully I am also able to help and advise along the while as well.
    Don't worry too much about memorising the quotes but really know the way the historians worked e.g. their methods, their approaches and what they did that was innovative - applies for both sections but also for the case study really know both the historians and the debate e.g. with Elizabeth who I teach I spend a couple of lessons on the actual religious issue before looking at what the different historians have to say about that issue.

    With extension writing practice essays, especially for Part A or as many past papers as you can get your hands on really helps as you do need to practice tearing apart those passages and rebuilding them with your own historians
    Hi cem, i just needed some advice, what's the best way to study for extension history? aside from the obvious i.e. write essays, memorise quotes. Thanks! any help would be much appreciated! :)
    Hey! That's fine, I actually think I did alright in the source question... I did the CSSA,

    I did Germany too, I know that one of the questions which I picked were along the lines of "Evaluate the success of Nazis in changing German life".

    The personality questions asked to outline their key events, and then the usual 15 marker with the statement "Significant individuals inspire great developments in history"

    I did the Cold War.
    Sorry I missed your exam but you are on the right track with a checklist to go through but also remember that if something is missing from your checklist that doesn't automatically decrease the reliability of your work.

    Did you by any chance to the CSSA or Independent trial paper? My school doesn't actually have a class this year - most annoying and they refused to purchase these papers. I would love to get a copy of the questions that I would teach for my Year 11 class - I do Germany and Conflict in Europe (as well as the personality - ww1 would be too hard to do )
    Oh thank you! Even that information was very useful... Just wondering, is there a specific format I should go by, because it would just make it much easier! For example, a list of things to included when analysing sources?

    E.g.
    -who's it by?
    -what are their credentials?
    -is their language formal?
    -does it show bias?

    Is it practical to follow specific questions every time you get a source, or is it different every time? (if that makes sense)

    Hi I am after an independent teachers viewpoint on whether my major work clashes with the modern history syllabus
    I was considering doing The IRA from 1970 to 1994 for my major work. However, have just checked the Modern History Syllabus and see that there is an optional study of Peace and Conflict called Option A: Anglo-Irish Relations 1968–1998, as well as an optional personality study option on Ian Paisley.
    I am studying Ancient History, my extension teacher does not teach Modern History.
    Will my major work clash with the Modern History stuff, or by Board of Studies guidelines am I still able to do this?
