The thing with the State is that it's unsustainable. As living standards increase and gender rights equalise, fertility falters and the State swells. This country will be fucking *crushed* by the aging population issue, unless we continue on an upswing of immigration or fertility of productive people spikes (which it won't). Or if you know we stop being stupid and let people take care of themselves. The many planning for themselves instead of the few planning for the many, etc. It'll take generations for people to realise that there are definitely more appropriate ways for us to about things.
The problem (for us) with the left is that people don't know or care enough about economics, so they just side with social progressiveness. But I don't know whether I'd prefer socially and economically conservative or socially and economically liberal.
