are there any year 11 subjects where that knowledge is required or will be tested in the HSC?

For most, if not all, subjects - Year 11 content is assumed knowledge so if they do a new topic, they would expect you already recognise and know the terminology or concepts. This is more so for maths/science subjects as LifeHard pointed out but still is applicable to other subjects such as eco or business but to a lesser extent.
