    14 Units for Year 12

If you really truly have a passion for all of your subjects (not necessarily including compulsory English) then you could try doing 14 units and see if you can bear the workload, and drop later if you feel that it's too much.

Is it possible to get a high E3/E4 without tutoring?

Yes I've never been tutored in anything and you can definitely get a high E4. Just revise the content, make sure you understand it, and practice questions. You can view raw mark cutoffs on rawmarks.info.

Any tips on making MX2 Notes?

SGS = Sydney Grammar School. Basically, imagine the Cambridge Enhanced textbook, but for 4 unit. Excellent explanations of theory, worked examples and for the most part a good range of difficult questions (including the extension questions that the Cambridge Enhanced textbook has). It's...

Any tips on making MX2 Notes?

Although not necessary, I found that the act of making notes helps with the revision process, including understanding of content (and there is quite a lot of it, even though it's not nearly as much as other subjects). In my experience understanding the content well helped a lot with harder...

    Parametrics question

We have the points P(ap^2,\,2ap) and Q(aq^2,\,2aq) a) The equation of a line joining two points may be found by calculating the gradient (i.e. rise/run) using the two points, and then using the point-gradient formula (y-y_1) = m(x-x_1) with either point. b) If two lines are perpendicular...

Sum and Product of Roots Help!

    You can think of |\alpha- \beta| as the difference in magnitude between the two roots. Using the quadratic formula, x = \frac{-5 \pm \sqrt{57}}{4} Subtract either root from the other and discard the sign to get: |\alpha- \beta| = \frac{\sqrt{57}}{2}

    English Advanced Paper 2 [Discussion/Thoughts]

I used it to talk about dehumanisation. Some people seemed to think you had to reference that specific scene. I actually did this too but I'm not sure if the marker will accept that.

What happens if we forgot to add the provided stimulus or quote into our creative?

Re: What happens if we forgot to add the provided stimulus or quote into our creative I can say for certain that you will definitely not get a zero solely for leaving out the quote.

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

My related is a video game, Life is Strange... it was the only way I could maintain enough motivation to finish the course.

HSC Standard/Advanced Paper 1 Exam Thoughts

Actually no, the best memes are the ones where the Wikipedia pages of the authors of the stimuli got vandalised.

absolute values for integrals equal to log?

Could you elaborate on why the domain restriction is necessary?

HSC Standard/Advanced Paper 1 Exam Thoughts

Gray’s Flames and Dangling Wires would probably be a good fit. I didn’t use it though. A lot of people in my year argued against the question.

HSC Standard/Advanced Paper 1 Exam Thoughts

I found it hard to get many good techniques out of texts 1 and 3 so I BS’d a little. I didnt read the “two perspectives” part of the stimulus but my prepared already sort of had two perspectives so it shouldn’t be too bad. Essay was okay, surprised they didnt ask for two related. The only...

absolute values for integrals equal to log?

I found that it was a more intuitive way to try to understand the paradox. But yeah... sometimes I tend to overthink things.

absolute values for integrals equal to log?

This is something I noticed recently while working on a problem. Oddly enough, if a series converges then each successive term approaches zero but the converse is not necessarily true. We could take the definition \int_1^x \frac 1 u \, du = \log x So we could learn more about the behaviour...

absolute values for integrals equal to log?

What would the "proper" way of integrating 1/x be, without leaving \mathbb{R} ?

absolute values for integrals equal to log?

Probably not for leaving them out per se, but there are some instances where you end up unable to complete the question if you forget the absolute value. For example: let \ddot x = 5 - 10v, and t=0,\, v=1 (this was a question from my trials). \frac{d}{dv} t = \frac {1}{5-10v} \implies t =...
