    GOVT1104 Intro to Political Science

Ahh okay, fair enough. So Geopol/Auspol are doable without the textbooks?

    GOVT1104 Intro to Political Science

Does the reader change year by year or is that something I could buy 2nd hand off someone? Seems like a shitload of unnecessary printing.

    Should I go to MUNA??

It's fun and all, good to meet new people and all that, but it is not going to get you a "few extra ATAR points", and if that's the only reason you're keen- wouldn't recommend.

    Course Planner: Course not avaliable?

Looking for a bit of help- I can't seem to find the Bachelor of International and Global Studies list on this pull down of options in the Arts/Social Science department. This is where I was directed via the email offer. Link...

Did Anyone get an offer today?

Was hoping for an ANU one- ATAR was 5 points above last years cut-off, but nope. Not sure whether to keep it as my first preference now.

    ANU

No separate application- just so long as your preferred ANU course is your top preference. Before Jan 4, I believe.

    ANU

I'm yet to make up my mind- hopefully get an early January offer and then a different Main Round offer to buy me a little more decision time. Would be very keen to head to ANU, but I'm not 100% in a position to live on campus unfortunately.

    PIP Awards

Band 6 also, with 96- so pretty stoked. Fingers crossed with the PIP, hey?

    PIP Awards

How did everyone go in Society? (Not that there is necessarily a correlation between that and awards)

Can Internal Mark be higher than External Mark?

Was ranked 3rd internally in a course last year, but lost a few too many marks externally. Essentially my internal mark was almost 10 marks higher than my external mark. Cohort was fucking nuts though, all 10 of us got Band 6s I think. So yes, and it can be substantially higher.

    General Thoughts: Society and Culture

9 marker was an interesting change, rest of the paper was very good I thought.
  12. R

who here does society and culture?

PIP- Whether uniforms are all they're dressed up to be. Continuity and Change- South Africa Pop Culture- Surfing Equality and Difference- Disability in Australia

    General Thoughts: Legal Studies

Being able to use Bail, search and seizure, and rights of suspects among other things for the Crime section was much better than those pesky predicted international law questions. I actually thought that the human rights questions were very good (touch wood).

    HSC Legal Studies Predictions

Yeah, seems you could do a 15 marker on domestic OR international, both would be suuper busy. Could be good though. You'd also have to deal with "just" and "fair".

    HSC Legal Studies Predictions

LSA question was on the role of the jury in achieving justice. Agree with reform though. OR, if it was international, could it be domestic as well? i.e To what extent do domestic AND international criminal justice systems achieve justice?

    HSC Legal Studies Predictions

Yeah, that's what I figure, and it's primarily the 'Themes and Challenges' that have been assessed in the last few years. The few that remain unexamined being -issues of compliance/noncompliance, -law reform in CJS, or -law reflecting moral standards. I was thinking they'd probably flag one of...

    HSC Legal Studies Predictions

What would be a likely Young Offenders or International Law question?
  18. R

    Crime 15 mark predictions?

But I can see how they would flag Young Offenders in any of those based questions, just not International Criminal Law.
  19. R

    Crime 15 mark predictions?

Huh? So you're leaning towards CIP/CJS instead of Young Offenders now? When breaking down the themes and challenges, they haven't dealt with -issues of compliance/noncompliance, -law reform in CJS, or -law reflecting moral standards, in the last few years. I was thinking something more towards...

    Crime 15 mark predictions?

What would be a likely Young Offenders question? Evaluate the effectiveness of the law in achieving justice in relation to Young Offenders? Or would they specify a part of the CJS/CIP to evaluate?
