    Polynomials

    look @ 2001 MX2 HSC 7. b) runs through the specific case of a cubic (ax3-3x+b=0) a general proof using the method used here would be way too long

    Polynomials

    it's called the irrational conjugate roots theorem (or something along those lines): if a+b√c is a root of P(x), and: - √c is irrational - [a, b] are rational - the co-efficients of P(x) are real and integral then a-b√c is also a root of P(x). google doesn't bring up many results. i can't...

    Polynomials

    \\P(x) $ is of degree $4 $ and thus has four factors$\\\therefore P(x)=k(x-\alpha )(x-\beta )(x-\gamma )(x-\delta )\\P(x) $ is monic and thus $k=1\\\sqrt{2} $ is a root of $P(x) $ and thus $-\sqrt{2} $ is also a root $\\$Constant term is $4 \\\therefore \, \prod \alpha =2\gamma \delta...

    lagging bench

    my current stats are: squat: 115kg deadlift: 122.5kg bench press: struggling at 60kg any idea why my bench is lagging so much? i do as much upper body work as i do lower, i don't see the reason why its so behind edit: to add to this, i'm also not oddly proportioned (i.e. massive legs and...

    complex quadratic equation

    alternatively: \\P(x)=x^2-(3+i)x+k\\$If $1-2i $ is a root of $P(x) $ then $P(1-2i)=0,\\(1-2i)^2-(3+i)(1-2i)+k \\=1-4i-4-3+6i-i-2+k\\=-10+i+k\\=0\\ \fbox {$k=10-i }

    Graphing question

    graph y1=Ln(x) and y2=x: - x>0 since Ln(x) does not exist for x≤0 - from the graph, y2>y1 for all x. hence, x>Ln(x) and thus Ln(x)/x<1 - intercepts the x axis at x=1 - for 0< x<1, Ln(x) is -tve and x is +tve. hence Ln(x) is -tve in this domain - for x>1 Ln(x) is +tve and x is +tve. hence Ln(x)...
