    Cool problem of the day!

This might be somewhat useful: as Carrot said, 'if and only if' implies that there are 2 separate(that's how it's spelt, right?) proofs [which may or may not use the same kind of technique] namely 'if' and 'only if' for this particular question: 'Show that x = z if and only if Angle BAE...

    Halp with math1001 sample quiz!!!

Q14 the way to find critical point for this question is similar to that for function of 1 variable( i.e. where f'(x)=0 ), since the function has more than just one variable, you'll need to find its Partial Derivatives find the x and y partial derivatives by regarding y and x as constants ...

    Is it? maths?

it's very difficult to predict what marks you'll actually get , especially when you don't even know what exactly the subjects are about which is why the whole 'which subjects should I do' thing [and to some degree, ATAR predictions] doesn't make sense to me don't let things such as...

    interesting dilemma

could some one tell me what's going on here [as an experiment, I know it's not exactly 'Maths ']: (using a calculator) store A as 7^(1/7) ans=A then ans=A^ans, the 10 digits displayed don't seem to change at all after 30 iterations or so and it is 1.530140119 or 1.53014011947213 (from...

    Integrate 2^x

yes [a simpler example] would you agree: d/dx(x^2)=2x and (1/2)*d/dx(x^2)=x ? in your question, a is just a constant(a=2,in this particular case) , so is ln(a) d/dx(a^x)= ln(a)*(a^x) then (1/ln(a))*d/dx(a^x)=a^x

    Circle Geometry Proofs

many books use this kind of abbreviations, which looks fine to me as long as you don't get a fussy teacher marking your assessments, or in the HSC I'd use the abbreviations in practice ,but remember what the full version is and use that in real exams
