    Arc Length

Do you happen to have worked solutions to these papers as well?
  3. L

    radians

Technically, there was no domain specified so the answer should be a general solution.
  4. L

    Simple Harmonic Motion

How can acceleration here is negative? Do we have to justify that it must be negative and never positive? If so, how and why?
  5. L

    Simple Harmonic Motion

Having some problems with the following: The amplitude of a particle moving with SHM is 5 metres and the acceleration when 2 metres from the mean position is 4 m/s/s. Find the speed of the particle at the mean position and when it is 4 metres from the mean position.

The following are two questions which I couldn't obtain the solution provided. It may be a mistake I haven't picked up in my working or an error after all. Any worked answers or solutions only are much appreciated. Thanks in advance. --- Q1 The volume of a spherical ball, of radius 24mm...

    Inverse Trigonometry Question.

Stuck here. --- Consider the region bounded by y=[sin inverse x], the y-axis and the tangent to the curve at the point (sqrt(3)/2, pi/3) Show that the area of the region is 1/4 units squared. Show that the volume of the solid formed when the region is rotated about the y-axis is...

    Forces acting on a satellite.

What are the forces acting on a satellite orbiting Earth? Would it be sufficient just to state the following for an answer in the HSC? http://www.hsc.csu.edu.au/physics/core/space/9_2_2/922net.html#net14 Thanks in advance.

    Yet Another Projectile Motion Question

I didn't think to use the answers, but I'll remember to look into them beforehand. I have the 1st edition of the book, whereas the solutions are provided for the 2nd edition. I looked at the first page of solutions of Chapter 1 and they were not related at all, so I just forgot about them...

    point of inflexion

To find a horizontal point of inflexion, you solve for f''(x) = 0 and the root must also be a solution to f'(x) = 0.

    Yet Another Projectile Motion Question

Thanks mate, you are a legend. Good luck with your HSC too.
  13. L

    Yet Another Projectile Motion Question

Sounds good, thanks for your efforts. But I'd prefer a Physics method too, seeing as it is a physics question.
  14. L

    Yet Another Projectile Motion Question

Yes. Can you please explain how you reached your solution?

    Yet Another Projectile Motion Question

I can calculate from the cliff to the top of the parabola and then from the top of the parabola to the point in line with the cliff. What I can't calculate is the range from the point in line with the cliff to the ground 50m below.

    Yet Another Projectile Motion Question

Having trouble with another problem from the Jacaranda textbook. Chapter 2 Q14 follows on from Q13, but I've included the necessary information. In my attempt at the problem, I've calculated the range from firing the shell to where the shell will end up 50m above the water. I just don't know...
