If you fail to complete 50%+ of the course, you won't be able to sit the exams for it. Redoing the assessment means you will still have completed that % of the course.
From what you've said English is your 'best subject' which you 'absolutely love' whereas ancient history is just 'really enjoy'. So you probably should do the extension english, particularly if you are even considering extension 2 in year 12.

If I'm constantly getting a mark of 75% in 3unit maths, what is this likely to equal in the actual HSC? Taking scaling into consideration. I'm in a top 20 school and I am ranked at around 25 out of 100.
