So as a safety net would it be better off for me to take all of the units in my first year, just in case I don't get high enough marks? I personally believe I can maintain a decent marks, but both my parents believe otherwise and I don't want to take the chance.

If your school is in between Rank 1-5 (or recently Rank 1-10), then statistically, even with your rankings, you should most def be getting higher than 61. You have an extremely strong cohort, if you smash your externals you might even be able to slither into the 90s. My sister went to Sydney...

Is this with consideration with the fact my trial marks are looking to be rather very poor?

How strong will strong have to be? Not sure if this counts for anything, but my school is usually in the top 10 in the state for English. So my cohort for that subject is relatively strong.
