this is literally me right now. I want to drop ext so bad and I also recently found out that we do 5 texts zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The validity of English as a subject.

Yeah that'll be useful if you're generally good at maths and can afford to do 2U+ Maths, if you're in General, most of the mathematics you learn don't require that much application and most of the formulas are provided. However I do agree that 2U+ Maths do develop critical thinking, unless they...

The validity of English as a subject.

I'm not sure about you but English require individuals to think critically for themselves? Sure, the teacher can pump out information and the students can regurgitate it and form a decent essay or what not but I'm pretty sure thinking critically is what pushes you up the ranks. Like majority of...

K-drama: It's okay thats love VS Fated to Love you

Has anyone seen Heal me Kill me???? I'm so inlove with that kdrama so much and tbh I reckon it's probably the best drama of this year. A lil sus tho that a Hyde, Jeykll and Me got released at the same time tho. Every person that I tried to talk about it has said it was boring TT__TT

    The Anime Thread

Death Parade is honestly the best anime I've seen this year, it's a shame that it only lasted about 12-14 episodes D: I hope there's a season 2. Tokyo Ghoul is pretty popular, and I appreciate the realism with how the main character gets flung across the wall from the villain unlike some...

The validity of English as a subject.

I've been wondering for a while now why English is a compulsory subject in the HSC, and I'm pretty sure it derives from the idea that English focuses more on critical thinking rather than ROTE learning. A lot of other subjects require simply ROTE learning, but English enhances those critical...

    Subject selection 2016?

Advanced English: Personally, this subject has been the most manageable and not as content-driven as the rest of your subjects. I found English to be a very difficult transition from junior to senior year, since there's considerably more techniques to learn and remember, however it doesn't prove...

    Correct 4.097 84 to 3 sig. figs.

Because the 0 in 4.098 is significant and possess value in the answer. Say for example the number was 4.09800000, the remaining 0's after the 8 are not relevant and do not affect the number. However 4.098, removing the 0 and changing it to 4.98 does not possess the same value. It's like...

    UNSW Open Day 2015

    atar estimate please

It's relevant for estimation but irrelevant for an actual rank. It provides context, if you're from a top 5 school, you're obviously be more likely to achieve 90+ with those ranks rather than a 100's + school. But for the actual HSC, your school rank means shit.

School Camp / How was yours?

My school camp was really enjoyable and it was pretty damn great that I brought more layers since it was cold AF. Food and beds were pretty fucken basic, it was nice to know what it was like to be in prison for a few days and nights. The only thing that was unfortunate was that eleven people...

    Social?

That literally happened to me, but the formal last year actually ran. Originally this group started to plan it but they got overwhelmed so it got designated to another group, and that group didnt realise about the supply + demand of the whole ordeal so they gave it away TO THIS ONE POOR DUDE WHO...

    Social?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, ah yes gr8 way to improve thy ranks Yeah it's like a laid-back formal, when I was asking about the dress-code, they all said "Oh just smart casual" .__.

    Social?

Ah yes, soon the year is coming to the close and rumour has it that Social is going to commence. I'm pretty indecisive whether I want to go or not, since we're planning it and last year formal was OKAY. Is anyone planning to go to their socials? and where are you having it? I'm pretty sure...

    Speeches in Yr 11 & 12?

There's a speech in Adv English and Legal (it was part of an assignment, but it was pretty informal) I know how you feel about doing speeches since I incredibly dreaded my name being called D:

    The Asian Music Thread

Does anyone listen to RADWIMPS D: They're probably my favourite Japanese band (alongside with oneokrock, but their latest album was kinda weak) ~~ Their music makes me wanna reminisce on those high school years (even though I'm still in HS tho but) RADWIMPS 4 was the best album

    Dropping down a subject?

I'm asking this in general because I hear a lot of my friends planning to drop down to standard eng or general maths next year... are you still eligible to drop down next year in Year 12? I know that you're not allowed to swap subjects atm since it's too late, but is dropping down to a...

Comin near last in 2U maths, should i drop down?

As much as what people make it out to seem, general maths isn't the end of your world. I know a senior who graduated who did general and he manage to get a decent atar and is now doing business. If you definitely don't need maths, then drop. General also consists a shit-load of wordy questions...
