could i potentially get 9 university offers?

No that is not how it works. What happens is they only offer the preference you are first able to get. You do not get 9 offers.

1st Ranking = highest exam mark?

In a situation like that, it would be best to notify the board of studies. If you apply for a misadventure, it won't help much in your situation because what happens when your misadventure appeal is upheld is you will receive your moderated assessment mark as your HSC exam mark. And because...

1st Ranking = highest exam mark?

Which is why after all your assessments have been completed, it's a team effort to do well in the HSC. If everyone performs well, it can only benefit you and everyone else in your class. So instead of trying to beat your friends, you are better off helping them :)

1st Ranking = highest exam mark?

That's correct, if the highest mark was 75, your internal mark that was 90, will become 75. Might sound unfair, but this method allows differentiation between the difficulty of the assessments/tests every school gives. Because you got a 90, it may indicate your school may have given easier...

1st Ranking = highest exam mark?

Alright, I guess I could do this before I go to bed. I'm tired so bear with me :) It's probably best explained by mucking around with this. http://www.boredofstudies.org/moderate.php But as an example. Lets say we have a class of 6 students. We got student A ranked 1st We got...

1st Ranking = highest exam mark?

As Ms 12 said, the relative differences between internal marks are still retained. If you were 1 mark below the student ahead of you, your moderated assessment mark will remain very close. An issue in the example you created DarkPrince_87, is in most cases it does not matter what HSC...

Your opinion on 'night before study'

My opinion would be that it depends on your current knowledge of the course. If you only started studying a few nights before, pulling off an all nighter and doing the exam in the morning should be more beneficial. However, if it was an afternoon exam, definitely get some sleep and wake up...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

Let me clarify something. There is a difference between accelerating and learning ahead. When you accelerate, you officially are doing the subject and allowed to sit for the HSC exam for it. Doing this requires permission from the board and your principal/teacher has a direct say in whether they...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

Lets say a student is taught the topic on 'equations' in year 9/10. They learn linear equations The student is now fully proficient in it. Next, they learn about absolute values in equations. Now they are fully proficient in it. To be able to ask more challenging questions, the student needs...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

That was just an example. Plus they actually do not teach z = x + iy earlier than year 10. (not every James Ruse student does extension 2 maths you know?) My 'guess' is they teach the 2U maths course as fast as they can. But yeah, in most year 9/10 maths subjects, it's really hard to find...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

That may be true to some extent, but lets take a travel back to year 9/10. e.g. I remember thats when I started learning y = mx + b Now really, you can't teach/offer anything more challenging other than extending their knowledge on that topic, and then giving challenging questions. But to...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

I just realised I didn't really even answer your question. I'm mainly unsure what you mean by 'hard subject's'. Say a JR student wants to do Business Studies, it's either Business Studies or nothing. There isn't anything 'harder' that the Board of Studies have available for them to do.

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

First off, in reality, they don't exactly teach ahead of the syllabus for everything. Maths they definitely do. Other subjects they do not. E.g. James Ruse student wants to legal studies as a subject. The student is in year 9/10 (as you said). Obviously they aren't able to officially take...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

Ok, sounds good, but what if a capable student is in a poorly acedemic school. A school cannot teach ahead because a few 'capable' students. James Ruse and other top schools are allowed that exception because the majority of the students are capable of learning ahead, as thus, James Ruse does...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

critiek, I'm curious, if you were to suggest one of these, which would it be? a) Bring James Ruse down to the level of every other average student of the state and teach them exactly and only the prescribed syllabus of their year. b) Allow every school to teach ahead of the syllabus ( even...

James Ruse are cheaters and the BOS do not care.

I suggest you try to take the perspective of the top school. Lets say you are a James Ruse student. Hardworking and smart ( usually ). Your level of learning is much greater than most other students. Would you be happy and content to be learning a year 9/10 syllabus while you have the...
