Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

If you absolutely want to be a vet, then aim for this. However, if it isn’t your life passion to be a vet, I don’t think it’s a good idea to pursue it as a “backup”.
  2. Q

    sequences and series

Note that S(n-1) + T(n) = S(n) (can you see why this is true?)
  3. Q

    sequences and series

Do -100 = a + (n-1)d, and show that n is not an integer so it cannot be in the sequence.
  4. Q

    99.95 atar

It doesn’t mean impossible, just very difficult and has not been achieved before. To get 99.95 you’d need at least 95-96 in either english course (they scale the same). This is much much harder to come by in standard.
  5. Q

    99.95 atar

This isn’t true - the pattern observed with standard English is not a function of “scaling the subject down” or “capping the atar” but rather because of the candidature of standard English. Typically they won’t be 99.95 students anyway.

    99.95 atar

    👀 me :/

EMERGENCY PIP QUESTION - PLEASE HELP!!!

Appendix is not mandatory. Your annotated bibliography at the end shod cite your primary research - simply footnote it in a way that seems appropriate if there is no standard way to do it.
  8. Q

    Engineering Studies Scaling?

Debunking the band 6 myth: you don’t get a magical boost for landing a band 6. The incremental change in your ATAR when a subject moves from 89 to 90 will be very similar to the boost from a 88 to 90. If you want to do engineering studies, then don’t let scaling put you off - enrol in it if you...

    changing courses

It doesn’t work like say History Ext in that sense, you need to have completed yr 11 ext 1
  10. Q

    changing courses

I think it’s too late to pick up MX1 since they’ve pretty much covered the whole yr 11 content by now.
  11. Q

    99.95 atar

I will add that .95 might not be possible unless you state rank in standard (95+). But you can definitely land in the 98-99 range if you do wel across the board
  12. Q

    99.95 atar

I did that except Phys was swapped for Society and culture (even lower scaling) and I did well. Tbh English is the most important subject since an “average” performance in standard (band 3- low band 4) can really drag you back. Try to get into the band 5 territory in standard (this is tough but...

    LAT

Apparently UNSW give out law offers like lollies lol - idk maybe 60%ile +? There’s probs a bit of historical data on BoS.
  14. Q

What were these science subjects like for your hsc?

I dropped chem after 2 weeks and phys after yr 11 - yeah kinda but I enjoyed my other subjects much more.
  15. Q

What were these science subjects like for your hsc?

not quite - 4U maths here but hated phys and chem

    Mathematics Course

You’d do it in your first term (MATH1011) just to get you back up to speed. You might have to put in quite a bit of effort since a lot of the concepts will be new to you, but since they’re at a fundamental level, you should be able to use resources eg Khan academy to help.
  17. Q

    Mathematics Course

No, the UNSW bridging course is for 2 Unit students who didn’t do 3 Unit.
  18. Q

    Mathematics Course

The biology major only requires MATH1041 (intro stats) which requires at least General maths. MATH1011 would be a good course to take in your first term to get up to speed with quantitative stuff. Since you haven’t done maths since year 10, it won’t be easy since you’re covering brand new...
  19. Q

    Mathematics Course

Which major in particular are you looking at? It would depend.
