Career focussed at a young age and relationships

I'm curious how do you differentiate between reputation and respect in this context? Or do you mean social vs professional contexts? Just checking, you're still in high school right?

Why won't selective schools+top private schools have more subject accelerations

    1. Baulko had accelerated subjects. At least accelerated economics was one subject, and then I remember there were plans to accelerate IPT/SDD as well. 2. Why accelerate maths- it's more fun to do the real maths olympiad :)

Why won't selective schools+top private schools have more subject accelerations

I think they don't want to attract too much attention to accelerating subjects- there is an argument that by bringing forward subjects, it gives students more capacity in year 12 and hence a bit too much of a favorable position compared to other students. I'm pretty sure if I did 5 or 6 units a...

    Laptop Cooling Pads

AH yes I saw that unit on display. It's the Cooler Master with the two fans where you can clip it wherever you want underneath. Looked pretty cool. I'm finding my Cooler Master Ergostand III does a better job of keeping my Inspiron cooler than the Ergostand Lite. Before I would idle around 50...

    Cadetships 2016

Well a cadetship is for 2 years, and whilst you may strike it lucky and get the perfect blend of opportunities/experience to help you get the job you want, I don't think you'll get that much out of it if your mindset is you plan to leave within a year as most of the 'gains' in development occur...

    Laptop Cooling Pads

I ended up buying the Ergostand III. It isn't as long so it fits better on my desk and now my Logitech G710+ keyboard with palm wrest fits comfortably. The design also allows the really thick keyboard cable to fit under the stand, and now the laptop feels a lot more supported.

    Cadetships 2016

I only partially agree with this in principle as it definitely varies in terms of what's "better" to help you get into the job you want, and if you're planning to only do it for a year or two in an undergraduate role, then realistically it's how good you are at spinning your experience as...

New Top Gear (season 23 onwards)

I'm starting to like Matt Le Blanc more. The segment with Ken Block was good I thought - amazing that they managed to close off so much of London to film that (I think I saw my company's office in the video!). But maybe that's just because I'm remembering Joey.

New Top Gear (season 23 onwards)

Damnit. I was seriously so excited when I realised GLA45 was ticking every box with SUV practicality, performance (thanks to the drag race of A45 in episode 3 for inspiring me again), creature comforts, affordable (not too much difference to what an Evo costs!), etc.. but the 280kW from a 1.5...

New Top Gear (season 23 onwards)

Budget is $100k, and the missus needs to be able to drive on P's. Keeping on topic, I feel the Top Gear is deliberately becoming less about the presenters/personalities and more about general entertainment. I guess they're trying to avoid the same issue they had before of overdependence on a...

New Top Gear (season 23 onwards)

If I had the money... lol. I watched a bit of episode 3, and the new R8 does look good. I can't believe I'm a sucker for digital dashes - it even made me wonder if I should spend a bit more and get the new E Class especially since all Aussie spec models sport the digital dash (even the base...

New Top Gear (season 23 onwards)

Yes the Mercedes SUV. And not an AMG model. Sigh, my fiance has the restrictions which means no fun cars. She wants me to buy her a Mini Cooper though so if I can get an apartment with two parking spots then I'll consider that.

New Top Gear (season 23 onwards)

Anyone watched ep 3 yet? I have to admit I enjoyed ep 2... but that's because I'm planning to order a fully optioned GLC250d for when I am back in Australia (havox - don't judge, I'm an old man now).

Uni accounting is unfortunately quite dry but unless you appreciate the foundations, it's very hard to do some of the other stuff.

Looks interesting but I'm long past the days of installing beta OSes :)

What is a good reason to change subjects?

I'm very end-game focused so my rationale for dropping/changing subjects was I was not getting good marks out of it (i.e. it may not have counted in my overall ATAR/UAI) and it required a disproportionate amount of effort to achieve these mediocre marks - i.e. the effort would be better spent...

    Cadetships 2016

Agreed. The logistics stuff is only a very minor part of your day to day role. And before anyone asks, no you don't get coffee for your boss. (unless you're all taking turns at it)

High paying jobs where lifestyle creep isn't expected?

Haha I bought the Lancer back when I lived in Sydney :) Can't afford a car here- even a Mazda 2 starts at $95k.

High paying jobs where lifestyle creep isn't expected?

Even in my field, I used to get laughed at for my lack of watch... but then Apple Watch became the 'in' thing :) Agreed most people don't drive super flashy cars but it depends on the role and how much client entertainment is involved. And post GFC there was also some concern about what image...

    Investment Banking

You confuse me greatly- sometimes you come across as being very well informed on business-related topics but then sometimes... less so. I have two possibly (but equally questionable) interpretations. i) Debt as in debt instruments/securities... which I guess some could consider to be riskier if...
