Debt to equity ratio (solvency) HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Still doesn't make sense to me. I guess it might be getting back to the whole residual interest aspect whereby if everything went bad and they had to realise assets, any shortfalls would be borne by the equity holders and this ratio essentially shows how much buffer there is before it eats into...

    No Free time?

I had work experience and selective but worthwhile involvement in a couple of societies (Comsoc, UNIT and AIESEC). That being said I already had a grad job lines up from 2nd year but it doesn't hurt to have backup options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What car do you drive? (the new one)

A lot. I struggle to come up with reason why is choose this car over my own. Only thing I can think of is at least noone will notice me or point at me when driving. But man I wish it had headlight which did something or windscreen wipers which actually wiped rain away! Edit: I see a lot of the...

    No Free time?

Agreed it's difficult but when you graduate, everyone will have the same degree so how will you differentiate yourself?

What car do you drive? (the new one)

Very. I still find myself walking to the wrong side of the car to get in, and having some things switch sides (e.g. mirror/window controls moved to left, indicator stalk is on the left which is opposite to normal Corollas, etc)... and there are some weird 'standard' features here- e.g. when...

    No Free time?

Depending on your course I'd recommend to people to try and use their non-contact time productively. e.g. working, or getting involved at uni.

    No Free time?

Back when I was at uni, I worked and studied full time, so no. But I still managed to find time to get involved in a few societies I cared about.

Places to study apart from the library?

I used to go to ASB around the outer areas (on upper floors) where there are wide chairs and powerpoints. If you are there early in the morning then you might be able to get a room as well.

Debt to equity ratio (solvency) HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Sorry missed that in your post above but either way, I'd use total equity. I see the point of differentiation you are trying to make but at the end of the day, equity reflects the residual interest and thus includes both initial capital contribution as well as any retained earnings (since these...

Debt to equity ratio (solvency) HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

How are the two different? Debt is always a liability, and liabilities are all a form of debt whether in some way whether it be financial or non-financial. That being said, some business analysts would only use genuine interest-bearing debt as a liability for this calculation in determining the...

Shipping stuff from NY (USA) back to Sydney

Reason why I'm keen to ship direct from NY to Sydney is I'm planning on travelling around Europe on a budget afterwards and would rather not be lugging around 3 suitcases, with at least 1 of them full of work clothes/etc and the other having useless things like my speakers, computer accessories...

Debt to equity ratio (solvency) HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Sorry I may be missing something but can you clarify your question? I'm a tad confused what you're asking.

I wear my leather chucks nowadays. Young, but with a bit more sophistication than the standard issue chucks. ps. I bought the brown leather chucks- low top/normal ones. pps. Before you ask, those prices are in USD as I am currently living in New York.

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

Just thought I'd post an update here after working in the US.... US GAAP is so prescriptive (and thick compared to our IFRS standards).

    Good Headphone brands

It's been a month and I'm still loving my Beats. They have a bass bias obviously and are a lot sturdier than the Sennies in terms of build quality. I got the black Solo HD (as shown in my pic here: ) and I'm finding they are great for a big variety of music whether it be rap, pop, old school...

I was RIDICULOUSLY lost during a fins lecture lol

Yes. Check your Course Outline for what the readings required are for each week which are meant to be done BEFORE your lecture/tutorials. You might be able to get away with doing them after a lecture but before a tutorial but if you're already struggling, it's not going to do you any favours.

doesnt anyone take this subject seriously?

It's a pity but I guess such is life when you're in school. On the plus side, at least it shouldn't be too hard to get a better ranking than them in the course.

Shipping stuff from NY (USA) back to Sydney

I don't know if anyone on here has tried but the costs of shipping are ridiculous. For say, 20kg worth of clothes/etc in a 50cm cubed box, it'll cost me at least US$680 to ship back to Sydney (not including the $7 box itself from FedEx). I've tried looking at other options e.g. Seven Seas...
