On the textlist it says that the intermediate micro workouts is prescribed but the textbook is only recommended. This seems strange to me? :S They also have the value pack. Question: is the textbook helpful or should i just get the workbook?

i have been receiving conflicting views over the job prospects for actuary. many books/sites say that it is in high demand, but a family member (thro law) who has his own accounting firm disagrees and says the job prospects are not high. who should i believe, what have you heard?
