Heaps of people in Med Sci haven't done physics but I'd say at least half did chemistry and around the same for biology. First year at uni can be pretty much like the HSC subjects if you want it to be.

Some degrees like Law are awarded with Honours Class I, II etc based on performance and not on further study. Thats about as much as I know.

Generally speaking, the top 1.5% of the HSC cohort don't get 98.5 UAI for e.g. in 2007 something like the top 1.6% got 99 UAI and over. UAI and percentiles don't exactly correlate.
