2009 Mathematics 2U HSC Worked Solutions

At x=-1 the curve is stationary (f'(x)=0) then from x = -1 to x=1 the curve is decreasing (f'(x) =0) at an increasing rate, and from x=1 to x=3 the curve is still decreasing (f'(x)=0) however at a decreasing rate. Remember the first derivative f'(x) will have to get from a large negative number...

2009 Mathematics 2U HSC Worked Solutions

    In the solutions, the equation is -4e^(-2t) -3e^(-t) +1 =0 On re-arrangement this should have been 4e^(-2t) + 3e^(-t) -1 =0 Or 4u^2 +3u -1 =0 Therefore (u + 1)(4u -1) = 0 u = -1 or u= 1/4 The solution is correct but there was a typo upon re-arrangement of the initial equation where +1 should...

2009 Mathematics 2U HSC Worked Solutions

This is also correct, although the answer will vary between $129965 and $129966 depending on where you have rounded in your working.
